why not try the mud kings, theyre really close to the bfg mt. and from what i hear waaay cheaper.
i dont know why but when i did an axle swap the tire noise was really loud, compared to the old axles. no change in air pressure or position. but theyre still really quiet. m/ts all the way

i am a a big fan of the bfg a/t, I choose to run the muds because I like the aggressive look...yep thats about it

the bfg a/t is a tire that is proven to wear like iron and is a great all around tire. if you are worried about that extra traction put the money towards a 300.00 lock right for the back axel or for the front if you trust that gov lock in the rear.

1 bonus of the a/t is that it is such a common tire that you can find great used ones for spares, seems just about every other jeep or a yota has had them at one point or another. they are all over craigslist.

AT's are great. just stay away from any serious mud/snow. the treads fill up and dont clean themselves the way MT's do. dont matter if you have a locker or not, still wont help if you have smooth tires.

you don't need a M/Ts...

I'd disagree with that. He says it's a daily "nice seasons" driver and doesn't offroad much but wants it to be capable of it when he does. Sounds to me like an AT isn't what he wants.

Erg, not a fan of the Mickey T's...especially the Claws...not sure what they're supposed to claw through or on...they'er all over priced anyways.

Gag...skip the claws. Do a search and they were recently discussed. They don't get good reviews from mud guys.

Oy, for $200 you should be able to get a 33 and a half. I can buy them locally in my overpriced touristy type city for $150.
Watch eBay, Craigslist, and any local 4x4 forums. You never know when someone is putting 35's or bigger on their toy and has a good shape set of used tires to sell.

Mickey Thompsons are awsome tires, I have the MTZs and they are awsome. But I go offroading probably more than he would otherwise I'd have A/Ts.

here is the tire i have kelly somethings. (see pics)

i hate these tires so much there nice for on road but when the pavment ends, no good. its a shame they only got 10,000 miles on them.

there an all terrian so i think i wanna steer clear of ats.

Craigslist is a wonderful thing. So are the local 4x4 forums.

I put the 36" HMMWV tires and GM 16.5" wheels I had on my pickup on there about a month ago and within days some guys had driven almost two hours to pick them up. I then bought some 2007 GMC take off 16" wheels off of Craigslist and have some 38's I got off of another forum coming my way right now.
You don't have to buy new or go through stores.

my parents dont want me to buy used tires, blah blah blah, what if one blows out no warrenty, yadda yadda,. I think you guys get the point

Just looked at some...oy are they expensive.

It's up to you to decide if you need the big name and rock crawling toughness of some of the tires out there. I don't so I don't pay extra for it.

So don't buy Mickey T's, BFG's MT's, Goodyear MTR's, etc etc etc. You pay a lot extra for the famous name and the 3 ply sidewall.
