Hey guys!! If you've been watching my shop K5 build thread, you've already seen this, but if not, here it is!!
This is a modular style bumper setup, not only for shipping purposes, but I'm going to offer it for sale as individual pieces too:
1. There is a main beefy bracket system that attaches to the front framerails via 10 bolts (6 of 1/2" bolts and 4 of 7/16" bolts) and has a winch mounting plate capable of handling up to 12,000lb winches, including the new Warn Powerplant series. It is all 3/8" plate (other than two 1/4" gussets) and extremely heavy duty. At the front there are two plates with 1/2" nuts welded on the back and two plates with D-shackle tabs that bolt on to those, and together they "sandwich" the bumper center shell: (CAD rendering)
2. The "Center Shell" is fabricated from 3/16" and 1/4" plate and has large holes where it bolts on to the main bracket system, therefore allowing quite a bit of side-to-side and up-and-down movement to get it aligned properly to the body. It looks something like this when mounted to the main brackets:
3. Then there are the "Side Shells" that bolt on to the center section to make a complete bumper. They are also 3/16" and 1/4" plate. They wrap around the factory fenders, but don't go all the way to the edge of the wheelwell opening. This is in case you have trimmed your wheelwells for tire clearance. They do, however come close enough that if you aren't trimmed, it still looks decent:
Here are some real pics of the prototype we just finished...
1. The Mounting Bracketry with a Smittybilt 8k winch for mock-up purposes:
2. The Center Section Shell installed:
3. With the sides installed (not fully welded yet, just tacked together):
These will come fully welded but NOT ground, exceptions can be made but only through PM'ing me at first.
Pricing for a full setup will be starting at $700.00. I really should be getting just a little more for these given the time involved in making them, but I'm going to try and keep the pricing lower for you CK5 members
I may also consider offering an option of a WIY (Weld-It-Yourself) kit in the near future.
Pricing for the individual pieces hasn't quite been set yet, but I'll get that figured out soon.
I'm going to start out with telling you that there will be a lead time of about 2 weeks for these, but I hope to get them into production soon to keep them on the shelf!
