My truck was stolen and has not been recovered. I have footage of the theft occuring and a confirm on the car that arrived to steal my truck. If you or anyone you know can run a Black 2003 Oldsmobile Aurora in Chicago owned by a Mexican please let me know. The police don't care about a stolen 18 year old Chevy. :angry1: I'm about the only one left trying. If you can find out where these cars are it would be a big help.

The car I am looking for is one of 500 ever made, less were black, less are in Chicago and less are owned by Mexicans. I saw these guys a week ago driving, but I didn't catch the plate.

Please help if you can or email me an address to send the footage to. [email protected] I cannot makeout a plate off the video, but maybe someone here can work with it. Thank you so much.

sorry to hear, it really is pathetic how much cops simply don't care when someones stuff gets stolen....

if you saw the car driving once, you'll see it again. Try to look where you saw the car around the same time of day/same day sorta thing. I wish you the best of luck but be tactfull about taking the law into your own hands/

Illinois motor vehicle theft prevention council

try getting in touch with this group or go thru the state police and see if they have an auto theft unit. you can also try and get in touch with an auto theft officer with chicago PD, I would assume a department of that size would have a dedicated auto theft group.

Let them know you have video of the car that was used in the theft. They may have some intel or use your info to track the people down.

You can also check with the Division of motor vehicles, where you get your license plates and see if it is possible to have a search done by make year and model of vehicle. They might say that only law enforcement can do the search.

Another angle is to use the governors office. They should have an advocate that deals with the Illinois motor vehicle theft prevention council that might be able to put some pressure on them to follow up on your case.

Officers from other areas don't have the ability to run a vehicle in Illinois based on make, model, year, color of vehicle.

You are right that the theft of your single basically low value vehicle is not of major importance in the grand scheme of things, however with the video it could very well lead to a bigger case.

Good Luck!! I hope you get your ride back and the perpetrators get what they deserve.

Now boviously it might not be true because I learned it from a movie... BUT if theres anything I larned from gone in 60 seconds its that if you have the plate number you can get all the registration info for like $50.

Without a license plate number or a specific name with an approximate age, I can't develop anything. Now, I could start guessing at Hispanic surnames and all of the possible age combinations, but I'm not sure where I should start. Do you have a suggestion? Perhaps you could provide an exhaustive list of Hispanic surnames and first names that I could combine. With that information I might be able to generate a lead on the vehicle. Of course, this is assuming that the car they were driving was not stolen as well.

Presently, I am investigating an attempted homicide with three outstanding, unidentified suspects; an embezzlement, two grand thefts, a stolen shotgun, two cases of providing alcohol to minors, a missing person, three domestic assaults, a couple of vandalisms and two hit-and-runs. I'll have to fit the vehicle search someplace in there...could take a little bit. I don't want you to get the impression that I don't care...because I truly do. I absolutely hate dishonesty, bullying and general criminality- that's why I entered this field in the first place. It certainly wasn't for the pay. By the way, I work in a city with a population of 18,000. Chicago is a little bit bigger than that, aren't they?

Perhaps before you start bashing the police in general, you should consider what information we have to work with first. No shame on the victim, by any stretch. The fact that there is some surveillance is a good start, just not enough. I will grant you that there may be some officers who genuinely are there only for a pay check. But to lump all of us in the same basket...well, that's just outright unfair. In fact, I'd say it's out of line.

SlicksInRain: If you are able to generate any info or need some ideas on what kind of information we can work with, let me know. I'd be more than happy to help. Being on the other side of the country from you, obviously I won't be much help in actively looking. But I'll do what I can. I've seen license plates from every state, Puerto Rico and British Columbia come through here, so you never know.

K-5 Bomber I can send you a video and maybe you can work with it, but tracking down this car would probably be the gold key to the crapper. As far as the plate goes it's all numbers with 3 in the begining and four in the end ### ####. That's all I have to come by, but finding this car because it's so rare will be a major help. Email if you need more info or want a copy of the tape to work with if you can.

Thank you for offering your help in your buzy scheudle.

No sweat. Send me the video...I might not be able to see anything new, but then again, I just might. If you happen on the plate, shoot that to me as well. Remember, don't make contact with these guys and don't be too obvious about getting the number (ie. standing in front of the car at the cross walk writing the plate on your palm.) If you do...make sure you're wearing a foil hat, rubber boots and carry a mannequin under your arm. Maybe they'll think your 5150 and just leave you alone.

I always thought that if you had at least a number to go by you could narrow it down. I mean how many of that specific model car have the plate number beginning with 3 and ending with 4 and are registered to a hispanic name. I dont know maybe its harder than it sounds or maybe I'm Dick Tracy.

I believe he meant it was a three digit sequence, followed by a four digit sequence. I'm not sure how Illinois DMV system works, but California does not provide such seach capabilities to us. It would be wonderful if it did. But, then again, California doesn't even include race as an identifying characteristic in the DMV files. We're so politically correct 'round here that we cut our noses off to spite our face.:doah:

Dang man you are still looking for your baby? It's been over a month now hasn't it? Best of luck! Maybe you could post the video on youtube so we can all get a look?

I am pretty certian that a car will not tell you the race of the owner, but we all know a Mexican last name, Polish, Italien exc. That is the most I can think of.

Yes it's been over a month since my baby was stolen and something funny happened... soon as I got in my other car after the theft the first song that came on was The KKK Took My Baby Away by The Ramones. I doubt there are any Mexicans in the KKK, but either way the song was about having your baby stolen... strange. :eek1:
