One of the last things I have to do to my 14FF is to set up the gears. I have purchased an open carrier and it came with bearings. My question is should I just get the master install kit and replace all the bearings including the 3 on the pinion or just inspect them and reuse them. And also where is a good place to get a master install kit I have found them for about $120 with everything including ring gear bolts is that about normal?

Thanks

Ira

If you're going to do all the work of setting up a new gear set, might as well 'insure' it with new bearings. Make the old ones into setup bearings. $120 s about right for a master install kit.

Answer a question with a question, Do you want to go thru this again in the near future?

I've been able to buy name brand bearings from the local bearing house for about what some of those bearing kits cost, and who knows what brand comes in them.

buy the master install kit.

FYI, ive bought master install kits from 4WHP and Randys and both were had Timken bearings.
