To stick or not

the only time I have had any trouble with my 465 is when I was bound up in some rocks, off camber, and the motor was blubbering thanks to a garbarge edelbrock carb. Three pedals was a little annoying right then but other than that the only time the clutch gets pushed is when I stop for lunch.

Go with a manual and forget about it, they are just so simple.

Are you just staying in one gear or are you doing clutchless shifts? I can shift w/o clutch on the street, but when I'm offroad I have other things to worry about. I guess it depends on the trail.... some trails I can mob around in 3rd gear all day with the torque my 383 puts out.

I would recommend going hydraulic clutch though, if you do decide to go 465.

I can't stand the mechanical linkage stuff when compared back to back, although each has it's own strengths and weaknesses.

Nothing worse than a poor feeling, or inoperative clutch when twisted up. Doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen. A manual trans vehicle with a bad clutch setup is NOT fun to drive.
