I locked the front hubs on my rig to to tighten the front driveshaft yoke. I forgot to unlock them and have driven 5-7 miles at high speed. My 208 went to whining and leaking pretty bad. Have I toasted the thing?

I thought you could drive the part-time ones in 4Hi at normal speeds, anyway -- I donno about 100MPH, but you know, 60-70.

Whining could be low fluid level caused by the leak, and the leak just brought on by use. Where it's leaking from?

The case was in 2 hi and speed was 55 at the highest. There was no existing leak until I parked after the 5-7 miles .It only whined as I pulled in parking lot, just a faint whine.I really can't tell where it's leaking from.

I drove my truck for around a year without ever unlocking the hubs. Never hurt anything other than the gas mileage.

Looks like the case was to full, maybe from having the tranny jacked up while swapping engines twice and just adding fluid?. After letting some fluid drain all is good.

If it was overfull, it was probably slinging (or forcing oil) out of the vent or lip seals. Glad to hear thats all it was...
