I've built up my '76 to be fun for the whole family. We have triplets who will be 2 next month. Has anyone ever put three car seats in the back seat of their blazer? I'm not sure if it's going to happen, it's going to be tight.

Are the arm rests on the blazer seats removable? If so, or not, make them removable. Might let you gain the extra width at "waist height" on the seat you need. You would still have the seat bases on the seat, just will be able to fit them with the increased width.

Have a freind who puts three back there all the time, its a tight fit but it works fine. But they don't have the removable armrests they have armrests that sit on the wheel well

mine has no armrests, it may have at one time but I probably junked them. Sounds like it might work! I'm going to do some measuring and I'll report back with what I find. This leads me to the next question-

I'm running 4 point harnesses on the outside two spots on the bench, and will have the original lap belt in the middle position. My plan is to use only the lap anchors for the 4-points to strap the 2 seats in , and the center lap belt to strap the middle seat in. I will be adding the top anchor points for the car seat top straps.

Any issues with this? I will always take it easy when the kids are riding, but I hope I can make this happen. I don't want to have to tell one of them they won't fit

Sounds like it might work! Good luck measuring though, i sorta feel like a test fit is in order....because we can predict the measurements will be CLOSE....

As long as your laps run through the seat, down and back just a bit and you keep them tight you will be fine. To get them real tight put your weight on the child seat while sinching it down. If you do that the bench seat's foam will provide alot of extra tension (I can't shake ours side to side or forward at all). I have four kids so I have had lots of experiance with the car seats.

Good luck and keep everything strapped down in the back just in case. You never know when somthing goofy happens and you flop. It would be very bad to have tools flyin around with the kids in the back.

The important question would be: How the hell do you even have time to wheel with triplets. One thing to consider is if they are getting to the age of Razor scooters and tricycles, etc. maybe getting them some type of bicycle helmet to wear is a good idea. Just a thought.

Its definitly a cool idea to bring the three kids. How long do you think they will want to be sitting in the truck for. my daughter will be 2 in march, and i was planning on taking her on a wheeling trip, but then i thought how long will she want to be sitting in the truck for. just a thought

Eh, through somewhat technical "fun" terrain, i could see a kid being amused for 15-30 min at a time, then get to run around and play in the dirt, then get back in and ride for a while longer.

Sounds do-able to me....but wtf do i know, i'm 24 with no kids. Lots of time spent with cousins growing up though.....

Good call- that's what I do with the car seats when strapping them into the van, you can get them real tight that way.

The helmet idea isn't a bad one either, and they have ones for riding in their bike trailer already so that's a plus.

I know what you guys are sayin-- 2 year olds don't have the greatest attention spans...
I don't plan on them wanting to sit tight for a long time at all, and for now I'll be happy if they let me strap them in, fire up the truck and make it from the parking lot at Silver Lake to the water (probably 15 min dune ride). I doubt they will be bored, but they may just not like it. You never know with kids, and when there's three it's gauranteed that one or more won't like anything you try.

Funny you should bring that up........

My boys 4, 7 & 9 can't get enough of my 'burb. As long as it is bouncing around they are happy sitting in it. I need to remember to ask if they gotta pee. The little guy gets so excited he just might forget and do it right there :doah:.

Not sure yet how my 18 month old girl will react but I hope it's the same.

My boys (5 and 8) quickly got bored when I first took them wheeling. They wanted out so they could play in the mud. :dunno:

I'll be following this thread. My daughter will be 2 in April, so I'll be trying to get three kids in the back too (but only one car seat plus a booster for the 5yo) if I can ever con them into going wheeling again. :doah:

Yah i figured that was about what you wanted to do. Great way to get them involved at a young age, good luck! I bet they will love it!

Haha, ah innocence. I wish i still thought my truck was fast :haha:

Little does he know the concept of "fast" will probably consume countless hours and $$$ over his lifetime. :doah::D

I guess it depends on the kids. I can spend all day with mine at the drag strip or roundy-round track just watching and listening too.

 Makes me think about how much they were raised with it. My wife drove a 'cuda and a hopped up camaro through her pregnancies.
