a YJ was clutch dropping on the beach about to nuke his rear. At that point the YJ dropped the clutch and actually took off...straight in to the surf. He was making ok progress until the water was over the hood.

caught air, stuffed the front... steering ram bolt cracked the aluminum oil pan. DOH!
Some 5 minute epoxy, a chunk of metal and 3 quarts of oil... and it was back in action.

always have loved yours and kevins blazers.

My trucks 6.0 pan has been cracked for months:D

Man that looks like a good time. But I've got this bad relationship with sand that reminds me of bad times. I wonder if a trip to Pismo would help...

Hey Ryan! Thanks for posting the photos.......

Did you guys save this seat for me?

I really liked going to Pismo....I'll take sand over mud any day. Any video from Jen for this event? I'm curious to see you guys raging up Comp Hill, and curious to know if Ryan is still handing out the beat-downs...

As for the Jeep guy stuck in the ocean....I think something happens to people when they get too much salty sea-air in their lungs. It makes them do crazy things, like "Hey, I'm at the beach....so it makes sense that I should drive into the ocean and try to do some donuts in there!!!"

....either that, or some guy with a bone stock 4-wheel drive truck thinks that just because his truck is new and expensive, it should be able to leave the hard-packed beach sand and go mob around in the soft sand dunes. Those guys always look like such sad little kittens when you drive by them (and there's LOTS of them) buried up to their axles in sand...just standing there with no tools, and no winch...hoping someone will stop and pull them out.

Good Times! :saweet:

:usaflag:

Badass pics dude. I've always wanted to watch your rig go in the sand! :D

Cool.:waytogo: I wish I had more time to talk with you guys Saturday night. It looked like you guys had fun.

Definitely looks like a blast. I also love all the chevy action pics. Even though he wasnt equiped for the beach, that dually chevy flatbed looks awesome.

Remington

Haha, thanks. The dually flatbed is my "redneck farm truck" tow rig..
Its got an '04 LQ4 6.0L, NV4500, NP205, D60/D70. Dually 33x12.50x16 muds.
It would do great if i had matching gears and a front driveshaft.

Its got 4.56's in the front D60 and 4.10's in the rear D70 so i haven't bothered putting a front driveshaft in it, though it would probably be okay in the sand.
The last 2 years i've air'd down my dually tires, but with a heavy loaded trailer and an open rear diff it doesn't really do much help.
So i said screw it this year when i got there at 3AM. Didn't even air down and i just made a run for it, as far as i could get into camp.

I've been looking for a 4.56 dually 14 bolt rear for over 2 years now, since i don't want to fork over the money for a $700 detroit and re-gearing the D70 rear...

Looks like you guys had too much fun. I met burt for the first time right before he left. If things go right I might head down there with you guys next time.

YO RYAN awesome pics dude ......by far the blue crew cab pic is the best.. ha ha....i was talking to your dad over there in pismo, my name luis im the owner of the blue crew cab. talking about your sand toys with some friends they led me here after decribing the monster paddles... small world.... check out.... thefew4x4.com also youtube.com/4x4lou.. what was your website???

Wow, looks like a lot of fun, I can't wait to get mine out to the dunes. I would have to drive it from OC though.
