ok so i posted not too long ago that i was looking to get rid of my k5 and look for something a little newer with more of the "luxuries" of a newer car and i think i may have found exactly what i was looking for.
a guy posted a 1994 suburban on craigslist for only $1000
i called hiim and he said ya it's up for only 1000 with a 454 and 119,000 miles on it!
what do you guys think too good to be true or maybe he just doesnt know the real value of the vehicle?
anyways im going to go take a look at it tomorrow. wish me luck!!

here's the link if anyone wants to take a look.

People are dumping these like crazy all over the place. Some people get tired of their ok vehicles and also suburbans aren't known for getting great gas mileage.

But for people like us, we don't seem to care

I'm fine with the gas mileage mainly because pretty much all of my money goes into my vehicles and i hate driving small cars nowadays.
Plus everytime i drive i fell like im giving the middle finger to Al Gore:flipoff10:

I tell you what my kids are going to drive suburbans. Or full size trucks.

I would rather get 10-15 mpg and know they are safe

Hey now, without Al Gore we wouldn't be able to be here harassing each other.

On the Burb, check it out. May be a good deal, may be someone dumping a headache.

Not to be pessimistic, but that's my thought, too. It looks like it's been sitting a while, judging by the back window. Maybe it's got some issues, or maybe the current owner doesn't like to drive it.

In any case, it won't hurt to check it out. Any decent DD you can find these days for a grand is a pretty good deal.

Well hopefully he didn't sell it before I could get a look at it. Im Still Not off of work.

Woww the dickhead sold it before i even got a chance to look at it.
called him right now and he said "oh i sold it yesterday"
oh well guess i'll just have to keep looking.

There was a similar deal on a 1/2 ton Burb close to where my Mom and Dad lives. Body wasn't bad, but it had been used for surf fishing it's whole life and the front frame rails were GONE. I got our 99 K1500 with 130K on it for $6500. LT with BIG tranny cooler, factory dual batteries, 3.73's, towing package, and so far we've only put tires, front brakes, and a fuel pump in it.

I look at things a little relatively. We looked at others with similar mileage/age that were VERY dirty and people were asking 8-10K for them. I was a little appalled at that. I think I gave a little more for mine than I needed to, but we had been looking for two months and needed a vehicle after Julie wrecked her Grand Cherokee. Bertha, as she's been dubbed, has done great for us though. Don't know how we got by without a Suburban. We've been pulling dump trailers with her recently, hauling off storm debris.

Julie's Mom argues that we should have gotten a mini-van. I just asked her if she would like to pull a trailer load of our willow tree to the transfer station with her Caravan for us. :D She declined... :dunno:

I Know what you mean about the towing. if i didnt have some sort of truck i have no idea what i would do. i have a little 5x8 trailer that i pull around every once in a while. believe it or not i had that thing loaded up with 3000lbs of roofing material!!! :eek1::eek1::eek1:
pulled it with my k5 to the dump. even though it was only 3 miles away and i didnt go over 30 mph i was still amazed that the tires held up!
