Well the story so far....
My 89 full size blazer with 6.2 diesel blew the stock 10b rear end .... for the second time!

This time i decided to change something so it wont happen again. I bought a 12b rear end complete from a junk yard and it turned out to have a gov locker which i did not want so i took it back and asked for an open 308 12b.
I got it yesterday and got it home, put all new seals in it and installed it and went to finish up by installing the drive shaft and it wont attach!!
My 89 blazer universal is bigger than the universal that was on the vehicle this rearend came off of. Is there a type of universal that will fit my driveshaft and the new smaller rearend attachment point? It seems like i need a universal with a snapring attachment on two of the ends and the free caps on the other two ends, know what i mean? Anyone ever come up against this problem. Do I have to uninstall this rearend, new seals and all, and get one with the right driveshaft attachment fit? This would be the third rearend i have tried to install to replace my stock 10b.
Getting Frustrated in BC, BCshaner. :doah:

I don't know what you have for auto parts stores up there, but down here I can go to Napa and tell them the two vehicles that I need the joint to match and they can look in their book for what I need. For example - You can ask for a u-joint for a 1989 K5 with a rearend from a 1976 K10. They should be able to look up what conversion joint you need. I know the joint exists because I have bought one before, but it's been too long ago for me to remember the part number.

What exactly were you breaking in the 10 bolts? 12 bolts are marginally stronger, if at all.

10 bolt =
8.5" ring gear
28 or 30 spline 1.31" axles
1.626" diameter pinion

12 bolt =
8.875" ring gear
30 spline 1.31" axles
1.438" diameter pinion
