Hey guys I got a problem... welll.. many problems but I only request help with this one. I have an old rust-bucket blazer. Fuel line issues.. one blew before winter and I fixed most of it ( cut out the bad section and replaced ) well now the other one blew. Normally I can cut these no problem with my little pipe cutter. This one I simply cannot get the cutter around it due to frame clearances. I cant cut it with a dremel or grinder because DUH its a fuel line.. so the big question is ( drum roll ) do TINY ( maybe 3 inches long and 1 inch tall ) hacksaws exist? It doesnt need to be a hacksaw but I need some type of tiny baby saw with a metal cutting blade that I can get in this area. Think of something that could fit in an area equivalent to the inside a toilet paper tube.

Hope someone out there has a suggestion.. I cant think of anything.
 
They make hacksaws, where just the blade sticks out...

To me, it's sounds like it'd be much easier, and done better, if you fully unclamp that line and shift it over to where you can get at it... or just replace the line at that point maybe...
 
That looks great. Do you know what they are called? Bending or unhooking it is out of the question. Its leaking a few inches before the hard line meets the braided line that runs into the tank. This will just be a quick fix ( or a can of worms! ).. in summer Im gonna do it "right".
 
mini hacksaw, and the second is a Jr frame hacksaw...

how are ya gonna get a flare tool on it?
 
I dont need to flare it.. its a gas line :D I cut the bad section out and replace it with rubber fuel hose and two hose clamps.. worked fine for the other bad line

Heh, no brake line. That was last weeks problem :haha: Had to replace all the lines, hoses and a cylinder.. all while braving the brisk Wisconsin winter... no garage.. just gravel and ice to lay on.

Yes, except that the tiny hacksaw is really a holder for a hacksaw blade that's been cut in half. Basically a handle with a slot at one end and a support sticking up off the top of it. So the width of the hacksaw blade is the totol height of the saw at the end, about 5/8". Check at local hardware stores.

but be careful, because the same sparking hazard exists anytime you're rubbing steel against steel. If you load a bunch of grease on the place where you're cutting and keep the blade in the grease (bearing grease, vaseline, whatever) then there won't be sparks.

Because of the rusting, as you describe, I replaced the line itself from just forward of the fuel filter all the way back to the tank. That way, I was able to cut the line at the tank end first where I could get a pipe cutter on it, so the line up where I wanted to cut the other end was drained.
