EDIT : read whole thread . I have modified and made it work as it should .

overall : poor :doah:

the threaded shaft for the whole length of the tool is to short to go from tube to tube in the diff housing on a dana 60 . I had to use a hunk of 1" bar stock and put it between the carrier bearing seat and this gave me the length it needed .

next was the o.e.m. style / most common replacement seals / and the ones Yukon sells you in there master install kit don't fit the cup of the tool to hold it and press it in place .

the main threaded shaft with a welded on flat/tapered cup to sit on the other side of seal installing has no way to hold it from spinning when your trying to tighten the nut and press in the seal . and I lubed the threads good . so if you wana hold it with vise grips and booger up the threads on your brand new tool go for it . should of just run a second nut down to the bottom and welded it on at the same time your weldng on the bottom seat/cup .

over all for the price range there going for 109.99 - 129.99 these are a waste of time . I would rather wait for a extra hand and do the old long bar / socket / hammer install.

now with all this said if they wana work on the design and let me test a new design I am all for it . the idea behind this tool is super and could be 1 hell of a time saver and less chance of screwing up a seal or 2 or 3 like I did on this dam job that should of been super easy .

going to call them Thursday and talk with them . at this point I want my money back .

and if your going to design a tool AND sell the part it install's you would think they should fit together :surepal::surepal:

fyi my Yukon carrier bearing puller tool is SUPER :deal: . . . . . . . I was hoping for the same again but didn't get it .

1209152112a.jpg

reg style seal left side / o.e.m. dana style seal right . the o.e.m. seal is direct from a Yukon master install kit for a dana 60-61 front .

1209152112b.jpg

there 2 ended adaptor pusher just fit inside the reg style seal .

1209152113a.jpg

there 2 ended adaptor pusher just barley almost wobbles on correct seal . 1 tiny off twitch and she going sideways and trashing a seal . and its only on the molded rubber web that in there .

1209152117a.jpg

1" block with little thread left on tool to push seal in and keep the 2 ended adaptor pusher centered on thread .

1209152118a.jpg

out to the end and flush . next pic shows more .

1209152118b.jpg

then this gap before its even pushing up against any part of the housing .

1209152118c.jpg

then if I slide it over to show were it should be seated to be solid for pushing duty .

1209152121a.jpg

this bottom end is were a second nut should be welded on for the second wrench to keep the whole shaft / cone from spinning under pressure of install.

1209152122a.jpg

a lot of gap could be taken up with a longer / taller adaptor body so you don't have to do longer threaded shaft for the length .

and in your pics on line this body does look like it originally was longer .

I was looking at that tool over the summer when I was getting ready to do my D60 seals, glad I didn't buy it. Was easy enough without any special tool IMO.

now with pics of exact problems .

I am not saying the old method is wrong . or this tool will be a waste of money if its problems are corrected . . . just at this time the tool is wrong in my opinion . and the job I tried it on was a p.i.t.a and only my self to do it so I couldn't to the old school method none to easy .

UPDATE : talked with Yukon tech guy today . . . . . . what a waist of my time . :angry1:

so he said yes we make it / yes we sell a lot of them / but our guys in the shop that do axle build all day don't even use it . :sign27:

also told them there is nothing much online or even a single paper in the box to show correct use of the tool . he didn't have a comeback for that one . . .

from what I gathered I might be using the tool wrong . . o.k. I am game to try again . so I reset it up in a bare housing I have and it looked better . but the 3 problems still show up . no way to keep from turning the threaded shaft unless I get another nut and weld it on . threaded shaft still to short . 2 ended cup still to small.

1210151448a.jpg

set up in the housing this is it for threads left to hold/center the 2 ended cup . not gona work correctly . 1/8 inch left .

1210151449a.jpg

then 1/2 inch short of flush on the end of the 2 ended cup .

1210151450b.jpg

and on the phone call I think this is to be the butt stop end against the housing . but it will wana push in to the seal as early pic shows its to close to be in/out and will jamb up .

11210151450a.jpg

from what I gathered on the phone call this is the seal push end . not the stop end .

so I have done a little rework on this unit today .

1 HUGE & THICK washer / 1 smaller beefy washer / 1 extra nut / little work and ready to test it on a 60 I am doing and doing seals on since torn down 95% the way .

1224151111a.jpg

extra nut with 3 sides welded on .

1224151111b.jpg

tube size adaptor thinngy with bigger size up .

1224151111c.jpg

new smaller washer with 6 holes drilled in to it and plug welded to HUGE & THICK washer .

1224151111d.jpg

will be used on axle side to seat flush .

1224151111e.jpg

sitting on install tool .

1224151111f.jpg

and as you can see centered and held in place by the welded on washer and hole just a hair bigger for the threads to pass threw . also you see how the HUGE & THICK washer is little bigger in diamitor to solve the problem stated early with to small and possible damage of seal .

.
.
.

will be testing this modification out soon . just waiting for seals to show up today .

ya when I got it I was like WTF ? ? ?

there avalible in the 100-120 range and some free ship .

this guy I got mine from was just a resale guy . I got screwed with delivery time and no returns from both ends .

pissed me off to no end since I have the Yukon bearing tool for diffs and it works perfect and I love it .

she worked 100% better yesterday .

1 more thing to modify and she will be the best .

I wana make a new adaptor cup to replace the wrong size one and the washer setup I made .

I will have it made to seat agains the carrier bearing race seat in the axle tube . this will be the perfect spot since the diff is out for the job .

1225151234a.jpg

the flat face cone worked great for the install job .

1225151235a.jpg

this was a after test . I used a old race and bearing center cone . this setup looks like it would be perfect .

1225151235b.jpg

and the seal in just right and happy in its new home .
