Just cleaned toolbox in and out, sliders too. Whats best to use, previous owner used white bearing grease. I know they make stuff that sheds dirt, like bike chain lube.

Is that rust in the lower corner? Hit it with some ospho and paint if so..

We like to use a synthetic aerosol lubricant. The brand we sell is called "u-lube" and works really well. White lithium holds dirt A LOT

ANY grease will "hold" dirt. It's a sticky guey substance, how could it not. It's just a drawer roller guide. Any grease will do, even you generic crappy ol' White Lithium grease, although I almost never use it for anything, but it's better then nothing. I use water proof grease on most things like this application. Maxima grease....not sure of the type off the top of my head, you can get it at motorcycle shops. I use it to seal my air filter to the air box, axle grease etc. It works well. Axle/wheel bearing grease will work just fine. You don't need hi-temp or hi-pressure though. I would not use motorcycle chain lube like the sticky stuff thats not suposed to fly off. It's really sticky and stringy. You could use the wax type chain lube.

There's a few light rusty spots on inside where it didn't get painted. I'm cleaning up rust spots and painting them all, don't want them to come back and spread. They guy I bought it from put white grease on to help it sell, "it was globbed all over", and in just a few days it collected dirt. Want a light oil, where can I get the stuff you recomended confedneck?

Spray graphite. doesn't attract much dirt and it is easy to clean off when you need to redo it. They sell it at Homo Depot.

Hear astroglide works well. :dunno:

I'd use whatever would be easiest to apply. (probably in aerosol can) Everything will attract dirt, heard rumors about silicone grease not attacting dirt as much, but that's just hearsay. Graphite lubricant, aerosol, like the door lock stuff might work? Like owenst7 said. Dunno how much protection that would add though. Non-roller bearing?

if you use the box all the time and bang it around a lot prob best to use the new KY intense stuff for hard core use.

but all joking aside. i have had good luck with factory stuff from snap-on on my box . ya cost a few bucks more but its correct and works. no try it and see whats going to happen.

and pb blaster products offers a nice garage door lube in a spray can.
