When i bought my 83 blazer i noticed it only had 3 bolts holding the top on. No biggy. Went and bought some new bolts for it, go to install, and none of them line up. even the roof mounted ones are atleast 1/8 of an inch off(and its not in the same direction). Now the holes on the lower part arent even close to matching. theres 2 bolts on the drives side and 1 on the passenger side that are bolted in. But all the rest i look into the hole, and just see the edge of the bodies hole.

WTF?

haha the nuts that are captured in the body are made to move around. So just take a screw drive and if you get lucky and can see the hole just line it up with the screw driver.

If you look closely you can see that on the bed, the threaded part on the bedsides can slide back and forth, I guess so if you had the top off you could hide the holes. Get a pick or something and try to slide the threaded piece in the bedside to where the holes match up. I dont know why they did that, its pretty dumb, but thats how it goes.

When its light out i can go check, but if my memory serves me right, what i saw through the top was mostly the actual body panel.

If you don't even see the recessed portion for the captured nuts, take a look at the inside of the topper and make sure none of the seams are split. Pretty common, and that could help to offset the holes.

If the seams are good, unbolt the 3 holding it in place, and see what's in the way. One of the seals is probably in the way or something.

What was already metioned . I have had mine off and on many times . Same year truck .

And BTW , the tops are the same between my 83 and my 77 :thumb:

Tomorow in my school autoshop ill do some investigating. If it will stop raining ill rip the top off for a bit.

If it doesn't leak now with only three bolts, maybe you'll get lucky, but don't be surprised if some of the seals need replacing.

Seals, we don't need no stinkin seals. They just add weight anyway.

I just got sick of the puddles on my rear floorpan, decided to do something about them before they rusted through. :)
