Top removal (easy?)

Weather is beginning to warm here in sunny Florida. My "new" Jimmy is ready to go topless. How difficult is it to remove and reinstall the top these vehicles? Is it like a jeep? Will it most likely leak after my first removal and reinstallation? It's obviously never been off before. Lasty, where do I buy the nice cool socket to take those weird torx head nuts off with?

i never had any leaking issues. my biggest problem was my k5's were always big piles of junk and the body would tweak from leaving the top off for a few days...

you have like 15 bolts all around the top. and theres two that go upward way in the back i dont know why the heck those are there but make sure you look for them, i always leave them off.

lol piles of junk describes most of my cars. they were always fast as lightening but there was always at least one lense with some tape holding it together.

yea, i never had leak issues either, be ready to take care of a litle rust nothin bad though. to get to those back two hidden bolts, remove like half of the screws of the side vinyl panels pull them out enough so u can get inside the body and reach up inside the body with your wrench to get to the bolts.

also another thing is after you take all the bolts off chances are the top is going to be stuck to the body. i always have to like stand behind the back seat and just squat press it loose, its almost like its siliconed down to the body.
