has anyone ever tried to enter into it? i know most of those rigs have $$,$$$ into them, but has anyone from here tried to submitted their rig?

yes,
  • bdozer went as an alternate
  • stephen watson competed in it (took a close second)a first gen suburban won it (also a member I think)
  • some orange blazer with 44s competed in it

Toby was a runner up who filled in if IIRC. Just saw him in San Angelo. His truck has changed quite a bit.

Toby WON the darn thang when the Blazer was still fullsize. Super nice guy, spent one day on the trail with him once, at EJS on Gold Bar Rim and part of Golden Spike...

I know he won but wasnt he taking someones spot who broke? Or am I thinkin of another chevy?

IIRC he was an alternate the year before he competed, and gave his steering box sector shaft to a competitor who broke his so the other guy could continue.... or something like that?

After looking your right. He was an alternate in 02' and won in 03'. Youd think that 3 to 4 yours ago wouldnt run together so well in my head. lol:D

Unfortunately, the TTC has "evolved" (I say that sarcastically) to the point where if you haven't been a contestant yet..... you probably never will be.

The price of admission seems to be 49's and Rockwells and plenty of $$$. There really isn't much "truck" in the vehicles that run there anymore.

I understand that every year it needs to get crazier to sell more magazines, but the vehicles that compete now don't "inspire" me...they are trailer-only, non-street legal rigs...

Real Truck Challenge (or something along those lines) is I guess where the mortals among us should be looking to compete????

:dunno:

whats wrong with dreaming?

I think you would be better off trying out for real truck challenge. I've gone to watch it two years in a row now and I really like it. This year they had two classes, under 35" tire and 35-39" tire. No tire over 39" are allowed.

One of the contestants was wheeling a 4runner with stock axles, welded rear I think, no lift 33"s. I overheard someone say that he had less than $2000 in that truck :eek1:

well ill be out of those classes due to tire size, id have to borrow someones 39.5 boggers:D :haha:

wheres it held at? is there a prize?

how sweet would it be tho, to be in a built full bodied truck in the TTC and beat a comp buggy:bow:
