Looking to hang my top from the rafters for X-mas and I have no idea how much it weighs ('73 full convert). So anybody how much exactly (or approx)?

I'm going to guess 65 pounds. Better weight (get it, get it?) for some more opinions because I'm totally guessing...
The old full tops are around 400 the newer half tops are like 150 or so

150! I was thinking about it after I posted and decided I was shy by probably 20 or 25 lbs. Holy crap I suck at guesstimating. 
That said there is NO WAY my old full top is 400lb so something is off...or are we talking first gen?

a full 'vert top? like was said @ 400 lbs., i wish it weighed 65...a soft top prolly weighs that...man... now i'm shocked a half top weighs only 150...it feels alot heavier than that...i would have guessed it was closer to 250!

for some reason I had 250lbs on the full top in my head, but I wasn't sure. I know it is heavy, but 400 seems high. Where did you find that spec?

That is what I am thinking. Granted it is a pain in the a** to take off but i thought that was mostly 'cause it is awkward and a little heavy. 400lbs means I have to rethink my hoist.
I have picked one up with friends my vote is around 250 or 400 is too high.

Yeah. Me and my buddy lifted it over my fence... and he is a tubby weakling. So I can't imagine 400 but I would like to get a confirmed number.

A friend and i weighed my half top on a his digital 250lb capacity bathroom scale and it maxed it out, so 275-300 sounds about right to me. Removal and reinstallation are usually one-man jobs for me. I just take my time because of the bulk. Based on the amount of extra material on a full vert, i might expect another 75-100lbs. I'd give it a shot solo, but if i had any doubts at all i'd back off and ask for assistance. too much weight and bulk to take chances with.
I weighed my '90 on a calibrated scale with and without the top and there was right at 200 lbs. difference. Keep in mind that the later K5's are most likely a little heavier because they have brackets built into them where the shoulder harness of the seatbelt bolts to the top. This top also has the sliding windows which I would expect to make it marginally heavier.
I know that there is no way I could install it myself (I'm 6-2, 200 lbs.), and with myself and a buddy of the same size it's pretty tough though part of this issue is how awkward it is. I have dragged the top from the ground onto a flatbed car hauler before and while quite doable it definitely takes a little muscle.

I would have to say that the half tops are an easy 200. They are big and awkward, but I thought something was going to break, namely my neck, when I pulled mine by myself. Def. not 65. I don't think the bolts could keep the wind from yanking it off if it was that light.
In any event, use more than just fishing line to tie it to your rafters. I would think the best way would be a 4x4 at each end, tied together with 2x4's as a rough frame. Eyelets in each corner, then all four linked together in the center with chain. Tie off a cum-a-long to the rafters and haul 'er up.

No help here on the first gen, but 2nd gen hard top without windows is 140lbs. Windows if I remember right were about 25 pounds each.

140, now we're talking. I'm not a big guy, and despite all the comments saying how heavy the thing is, despite it's size I throw that thing around pretty easily. There is NO WAY mine weighs even close to 200 pounds. Mine is a '76 with fixed windows. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a variance in weight over the years?
EDIT - I was just reviewing all the guesses and realized I'm a total goof. When I first guessed I was guessing how much I was lifting when taking it off with a buddy (one on each side). Soooo if it turns out it really IS 140 pounds I was darned close! I wish there was a way to weigh mine now...
