Aaaaaah, now you've gone and done it. There's a bunch of CertifiablyKrazy5 (marbles between them) lunatics gonna take all their doors off. Ya, that and an extended rear gate too!!!!!!!!!
Gonna start drivin around nekkid.:haha:

I thought about hacking the roof off of my burb but we get alot of rain up here so that's out of the question . I mainly went with the burb so I could bring my buddies wheeling but they are to scared to ride with me :haha: . I guess I'm gonna have to build a blazer and turn the burb into a tow rig . The wheelbase is nice with the burb as it climbs like a goat .

aww yea, streakin' burbs on the horizon:D

After thinking about it, something about the FULL convertible Burb just doesn't boil my eggs. The fully convertible Blazers are sa'weet, don't get me wrong. I need to see more fully conv Burbs. I'd really like to have a rear converted K5 hardtop WITH a custom lift-off center area( between the windshield frame down just past the mid doors) but it doesn't look like theres enough room for both....without extending the wheelbase, and THAT is outta the question! If I was to keep the solid rear roof and do the center lift-off mod then there would be wind drag issues at high speeds I'm sure.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

oh well, I've got plenty of time to mull over it while I do the performance mods. Body comes last :wink1:

I am doing it for the same reason... I am building a full cage so that their fear will have a place to hide.

Someone mentioned TO MUCH RAIN in the NW... Yeah I know, but I still want a topless burb with tube doors. So I am willing to make the sacrifice. By winter I will have a solution to the full open top. I am thinking HEEP type door tops ,or better yet BUMMER (military version) door top halfs that easily come on and off of the solid half doors I will be building. I will have pics of the donor rigs in a few days. And I will post LOTS of progress pics as well.

Tis the season for CHOPPIN'!!!

Any of you guys in the PNW - my buddy would be willing to help you convert your Sub to a Blazer top rear - he has a small fab shop and does that stuff on the side.

Even with my 4 point cage (adding more tube soon) I still get some body flex . I can't imagine how bad the flex would be if you took the whole top off :eek1: . I can drive up on a big rock and flex my burb out and I can't open my door as it hits the rockslider  . It was worse before the cage . It will get better after I build the back part of the cage . If I had it to do over again I would start with a 1 ton truck frame and put the burb body on it . The burb also has more leg room in back compared to a crewcab and you have the added plus of the fold down rear seat . For any serious wheeling the burb will hang it's long @ss end up on something . I took 22inches off the back and I have yet to hang it up on anything . I think if I wanted something topless it would be a blazer . Here is a pick of my rig parked up on a big boulder down at the river (long wheelbase rules  ).

this is along the lines of what i was thinkin
topless and bobbed with a full cage covered by a can-back style top(ther still in buisness) the cage set up like suicide sally from poision spyder, uv resistant lexan panels and sheet metal

I agree with all of this, the bad and the good. And that is why I am going to build a fully frame integrated cage that will all but eliminate body flex (well I hope it will)

I have not decided about a bob'd rear end yet. I kinda like the room. Maybe i ought to make it 6x6 and keep the extra length... I bet my turning radius would be hell though. OOOHHH, maybe i could run 44's up front and tandem 35's in the rear. Lets see, what gear ratio would that work out to be at each end. Too Much Math, so forget it.

I am hoping to carry 5 screaming/crying friends with me on the dunes and down the trail. That is why I want the Sub fully convertible so that they all can see the end of the world when it comes.

Ok, well for now, I have to get the top cut off and start fab on the cage. WOO HOO!!! I will post pics as I go.

Barn doors.....

I am going to full cage by burba....I was really worried when I cu the top off of mine....that I would loose the shape and have problems when reattaching the Blazer portion, so I caged the inside of the Blazer structure and went to cutting......

I like these alot....

The first blue is a very cool look, the semi, *cough, cough* crew cab *bronco* look is also sweet.

i came up with the idea...cough cough... years before Centurions hit the market......cough cough
