I have a '91 K5 that is really in great shape. I don't think the top has ever been removed. I tried several weeks ago to take the top off and I had no luck. I took out all of the bolts that I could find along the top of the "bed" inside and along the cut out of the roof. When i tried to take it off, it wouldn't budge. Is it possible that the weatherstripping is stuck to it and wouldn't allow it to move even a little bit? Or am I missing something. It literally wouldn't move at all. I'm worried about damaging the weatherstripping if I am able to get it off and it ends up being stuck.

Any suggestions?

There are 2 bolts in the way back on both sides that go up in the cap. You`ll need to pull the interior panels to get to them.

Son of a gun!!! I had no idea they were there. Thank you soooooo much!!!

I got all of the ones that were evident, but I had no clue that there would be any that were hidden. That explains why the rascal wouldn't even budge!

By the way, does anyone have a fairly accurate guess as to how much the top weighs? I need to figure out if I can take it off with pullies or how much help I'll need to get it off.

you cant lift it of yourself if your a dude either, its big and akward, best bet is to have a couple buddies come over and give you a hand after you get all of the bolts off

With lots of determination you can take the top off a '76-'91 Blazer yourself just carrying it yourself. But not a '73-'75 fulltop like I have. I have a pulley system in my garage so I can remove it myself. Cost me around $50 to build. Well worth it. It can remove any truck cap or Blazer top. The top just hangs up there when not in use.

Definitely have someone help you take the top off if you can. Otherwise you could get the cool scratches down the side and a cracked top. Its an akward son of a gun to get off by yourself.

Yeah, definately try to get an extra set of hands. I've taken mine off by myself by backing it up to a hill that was about as high as the tailgate so i could lift the thing up with my back and walk it off of the tailgate.

yeah I tried taking the top off by myself... I tried to chunk it... it didnt clear the back of the truck. Ended up with some nice dents to go with all the cool scratches.... oh well... That thing had to weigh more than 150! Glad its gone.... along with my tailgait. :)

Ive taken mine off plenty of times by my self. when the truck is stock its much easyer. ive done it with the truck lifted and got those nice scratches. much better with two people
