Yep, she's topless!!!!

How incredibly cool it was to drive for the first time topless this morning! My girls and I just went around the block, but will get it out on the road later today - very sweet!

Awesome. I'm glad you are getting to enjoy it now instead of it sitting around the shop.

Yep, sure is great to be driving it. My 10 year old daughter wants to take it anytime we have to go somewhere - just can't beat that

She and I took it out this afternoon to blow the dust out - we had to keep our eyes shut for a while, well, she did, I was driving so I got to squint :haha:

Hopefully we are going to take it to drop my kids off to school in the morning and then on to work - hope it is warm enough, still a little cold in the mornings here.

The drive was tremendous except I felt bad for my 12 year old daughter, she had some messed up hair when we got to her school. She said her tangles even had tangles it was soo bad :doah:

She was good natured enough to not be made at her dad though

Gotta love that girl! My youngest was in the front seat and she has shorter hair and was wearing a pony tail so she was fine.

It's clouding up so it better not rain this afternoon or I'm gonna be ticked off!

Speaking of ticked off - I used an anti-cat tactic last night - I placed cardboard boxes in both front seats to keep the barn cats off them. Well, guess what, one of them go onto the back seat and just couldn't be satisfied with just sitting on it, one of the cats had to throw up on it  Thankfully easy cleanup but I guess I'm gonna have to use anti-cat tactics for the back seat also!

hahahah if it wasn't for the cats having an important job of keeping the rodents out in-turn keeping the snakes away I would be thinking of a more perminate solution for thoes verman :hack:

I Know exactly which one did it too - when the K5 was all closed up except the t-case area, she would wiggle her way in there and I find her late on. She is one heck of a mouser and she is my youngest's cat so I better keep my hands off!

Rock on! I did some topless cruisin today, too it's great.

What tires are those? They are somethin else.

They are General mud tires, 31"x7.50x16. They were on my 69 K20 when I bought it back in 1999 and I have a feeling they had been on it for a while as it set in a storage unit. They are what I consider a classic "farm tire".

Sure had some dark sky yesterday evening as I was driving home. I was expecting to get rained on but it never did rain. Guess I better find a soft top!

Put a smile on your face to have the top off don't it? Does for me.

Sure does. Got to drive it today, first dry day since Monday . . . er, wait a minute, me and my girls had to run the wipers a little - a bit misty this morning - if my wife hears it was almost raining, I'll get an earful tonight  Oh well, we didn't get wet, just ever so slightly damp, yep, that's it, slightly damp. :haha:

hahah Nice!
Amazing how we are always wondering what the wife will say :doah: ..hehehehe
and then the thought is gone and we do it anyway...hahhaa:D

Yep.......1st Gens are the greatest.

The later model K5 guys just don't realize what they're missing on a nice sunny day.

I'll never forget there was a wheeling trip up at Frank Raines a few years back.....one of the girls needed a ride up the creekbed to where her boyfriend was wheeling, so I offered her a ride.... (he's got a late model K5). As soon as she sat down in the passenger seat, I caught her kind of looking around and up at the sky and just admiring the open feeling of a convertible truck...

"Now this is nice...." she said as we started up the creekbed. I couldn't agree more.

A few moments later after soaking in the "1st Gen Atmosphere" for a while she asked:

"What's that low rumbling sound?"..... well, that's what they call a big block motor!

I had to smile about that one. It's always fun to see how much enjoyment other people get from what we sometimes takes for granted.

The closest I've come this season is that yesterday I re-attached the battery cables since leaving the 'ol girl parked outside all winter. Wouldn't you know it, she started right up and settled into that low, rumbling BBC idle almost immediately. Damn, I can't wait to pull the top and go for a drive!!! :thumb:

:usaflag:

You just know when she got to her boyfriend she told him about your rig - bet he felt a little inferior - course his rig was a K5 so he shouldn't feel too bad :D Not everyone can have a first gen!

YJ,
Took my youngest out topless yesterday. :D
(she's 8)

We were just going to get gas but when she asked if we could go for a cruise, what's a good dad to say?
...yeah, we were late for dinner. :smirk:

Ended up wheeling a up a local fire road, decent little shake down trail.
Has a bit of everything, mud/rocks/good flex spots...etc.

Greg, you keeping the top on @ Rausch?
