Anyone try these yet? Brackets to run Dodge 3500 twin piston calipers and big 14" rotors on a kingpin D60.

I am mid way through the rebuild on a D60 for my K5. I am about to order brake parts and was just going to get rebuilt calipers, rotors and pads from RockAuto. I am running an '02 AAM 10.5 in the rear which has the big factory calipers on it. I came across these brackets and thought it might be a good match for my setup. I am going to have to turn down the rear brakes with a proportioning valve so if I went with the big Dodge 3500 stuff from the 17" kit it would essentially turn up my front brakes and match the rear better. Any thoughts? Since I need to buy brake parts anyway the price to swap isn't as bad as replacing working parts. Running 37" now and will step up to 40" in the future. I don't really think I need more stopping power, just thinking it would match front to rear a bit better.

I bought the brackets, but haven’t got around to installing :what:. I think it requires turning the hubs down, changes the rotors to slip on style.

Yes, turning down the hub is required but is pretty easy.

The brackets for a 16" wheel are interesting too. Uses 2000-2009 GM 2500 brakes. It would also work for me and the brakes are a little cheaper than the Dodge 1 ton stuff. That would also match my rear brakes for a stock application which could possibly allow the use of a "stock" 2000-2009 master cylinder. Proportioning valves and master cylinder selection have always been the tough part of disc conversions. Using a brake combo that GM had on a stock vehicle might be a good idea.

I wanted to do them on my old cummins powered Ford I used to have. The factory front brakes on it were sucky. Got rid of the truck though. Looks like a good way to go. I'd do the 16" option to keep it all matched GM like you said.

I have them, and so does @AgDieseler .
I have aftermarket solid axle hubs and did not have to turn them down. I actually had spacers made to have the rotor fit hub centric. You definitely need 17” wheels and they barely clear. I bought the 4 caliper bracket mounting bolts from dodge. Yeah, Love the brakes.

Nice! I have 17" wheels so the 3500 stuff should fit if I go that way. What rear brakes and master cyl do you run?

I have an ‘03 aam 10.5 rear. I’m running the plastic reservoir p30 master. It (barely)
Clears the hood. Seems to work well.

It’s a good upgrade just for the brake leverage you gain. If you are set on 17s for the rest of your life then it’s a pretty good buy.

I actually had 15” wheels, so I’m running 3/4 ton brakes with lugnut 4x4 brackets. Recently upgraded to 17” beadlocks and ordered these brackets for next brake job. 17” is the new 15” haha

I had a P30 and it was too hard to push. Would pull through in 4L if you weren’t standing on the brakes. (K30 good booster) I think it was 1.5 bore. That’s the MC I showed up with to BB and had them swap something else with a 1.25 bore.

The cast iron K30 I was using for years was a 1.125 bore. Worked sorta but squishy and just sucked.

I hate brakes.

They’re very effective. I had to redo some welds on the bracket, but the design is a good one.

Naturally, I used the Z36 stuff from Powerstop. With the P30 master and late mod discs in the rear, it all works really well.

That’s a slick solution. I used cuts of 5/8 stainless tube to center the rotor on the lugs.

Are you running the giant ram front calipers and aam rears? If not, you’re going to have different results than what we’re talking about here. The ‘09 up Ram uses a 1.32 master bore, and the ‘03 3500 gasser uses a 1.46 bore. I chose the 1.57 bore from a 94 p30. I went a little bigger because I prefer a firm pedal. I also swapped in a disc/disc combination valve.
They work great.
