WaaaSuuup CK5 ... :saweet:
So one of my MANY procrastinations has been to install an anti axle wrap bar. My 454 does twist my 14ff for shizzle!! I seen it on the dyno back in 2006 :yikes: oh snap!! STOP looking up you bad pinion you!! .. but I just wheeled it without the fix and had a "back of the mind prayer" it would not be an issue....
No more can I pray... time to WELD!!!

I need to build a mounting point, crossmember for the front shackle of the bar. I would like to see how you fab gods have made frame rail to frame rail crossmembers. PICS!!

So the first obvious issue is my H pipe.... I'm probly gonna end up beating it forward after some whiskey and torch time so don't look at that!
What I want to do is bring the new X-member down parallel with my factory skid and merry it all together with a bigger than I have now skid plate..

I just want to see how ya'all tie into the frame :waytogo:

I am more interested in how to tie the X-member I make into the frame rails.
I need to make a \___/ type of x-member and looking for ideas on how to tie/mount it to the C frame on each side?
It will go right along the factory X-member then I will add XL skid plate to tie them together ...

I have i Diy4x one for sale pm me if interested

Nothing pre-fab is going to help...
I guess I made a mess out of a simple question....

Show me the pics of your homemade crossmember mounts @ the frame

Google searching has all the common, so no inspiration ... I was jut hoping to see a built crossmember that is "rear of" the X-fer case, AND Even with the DROP of the factory dual-Xmember
AND how it was mounted to the FRAME rail >>

I B Making One so just looking for GOOD ideas :saweet:

The lower tube that the swivel shackle is mounted to in this pic goes from side to side and attaches to a plate that bolts onto the side of the framerails. On the bottom of the framerails another plate is bolted on forming a T, and its welded to the sideplates.

I have two already and sourcing a 3rd sounds doubtful for my First Gen frame, PLUS that takes up more room than I have!
My K5 is like a Short Travel Full Suspension 29er (mountain bike) Big tires, Lots of power & Short travel!! :woot:

Hear is my sketch

The problem is your exhaust routing. Full dual is very hard to use with an anti-war bar. If you read the thread I referenced you'll see several cross members designed and installed. Most of them are flat - straight across the bottom of the frame - because the exhaust is up inside the frame, as is most common, and no muffler in that side. Check out the whole package space you'll need for the bar, shackle, cross-member, etc and you'll likely find major conflicts with the current exhaust. An exhaust system only lasts so many years anyway, so if something else needs changing, just fix it now and avoid over-complicating the cross member. You want the bar up high.
