I just got done rebuilding my TH350 trans and want to put a quality/correct torque converter in it that will work well for my truck. Its a 79 K5 by the way.

As i said trans is fresh has a HD shift kit in it from hurst, running a 350 sb stock internals. just a set of Headman headers, Edelbrock intake and 650cfm carb. Truck is shackle lifter 6" and has 35" BFGs.

Do i need to... or should I upgrade the TC or is a stocker fine...?

Local trans shop said the stock is fine. Wheras other peop[le i have talked to said i should just go ahead and upgrade it now cause i have the trans out....

Need suggestions...!

WHat TC is it?

Most people here are morre worried about the axles with 35" and the wheeling you do, are you running gears for thoose 35"

i have run a allison tourqe convertor before and liked it. and heard of others doing this. this was a built 400sbc and th350 hd clutch packs and transgo shift kit. with 1tons and 4.10 gears on 38" tsl swampers.

its lower than stock to help with bottom end power.

and the 1 i used was a allison at545 from a schoolbus with sbc350 stock.

I bought my converter from them, went 200 rpm higher stall than factory. Helps you get off the line better. Call them and tell them what you want. Free shipping too.
