Does anyone know if a torque converter from a th350 will work on a th400 I though I read somewhere that it will but cant find it.

yep its the same.

hope your not swapin in a used one from a burt tranny. thay hold a ton of junk when the insides lett go. and this would pump trash threw your good tranny.

and if you want a big heavy duty low stall unit even a convortor for a allision at540 will work.

friend found this info . i used 1 in my first truck. and he used a lot for the 4x4 trannys he did. all worked good.

I got an unknown brand reman'd tc for a th350 sitting at the shop if you want to stop by and get it. Probably under 2000 miles on it.

My 350 still works good and has low miles just looking forward to when I swap in the 400/205 to make sure I can still use the tc I have right now on my 5.3

I thought the 400 had 6 bolts and the other had 3 like my 700r. To the flexplate that is.

Some did have 6 bolts, diesel ones and HD gas engines too, used 6 bolt ones...I've even seen one behind a 292 in an old Chevy van that had 6 bolts..however,far as I know the bolt pattern is the same, and the 3 bolt ones will bolt up to the 6 bolt flexplate, using only three bolts...I think the 6 bolt ones had a lower stall speed,I know the diesel ones are a lower stall speed anyway....

I only bring this up cause my 700r would not bolt up to my 400sb, because it had a th400 flexplate. Dunno if they are all like that. But I had to re-order a new HD flexplate for a 350/700r to fit my 400sb.

If I remember correctly, there were 2 different torque converter bolt patterns ,but on my trucks I must have been lucky because the flexplate was set up for both designs...
