Hi Everyone..Just a quick question. I am finishing up a l31 700r4 install in my 89 suburban. The motor and transfer were married before I dropped it in. With the torque convertor all the way back there is roughly a .340 thousands gap between it and the Flexplate. I need to move it forward roughly an 1/8 before the hub starts to engage the crank. Should I use some ground washers to take to rest of the gap? About 3/16.. Or just shove it all the way to the Flexplate? How much of the torque conveter engages the front pump?

Tranny guys? Uh.. I mean transmission guys? Lol

Dont use washers to space it, push the converter to the flex plate and bolt it together. Make sure you have the correct flexplate though.

when you install the converter push and turn it until it wont go in anymore then spin it some more.

Every single auto that I have pulled out and put back has a noticeable gap between the flex plate and TC once they are disconnected. A sure sign off a bad TC install is a force fit when trying to bolt everything to the engine.
