I have a gm torque converter out of a 2005 4l80e. Was told it was out of a van, but me and the PO aren't entirely sure of that.
I was told there's a list that gives all the specs of them and even found the link. But it no longer works.
I know gm had a variety of different stall speeds for these. And would kind of like to get an idea.
I've heard a range from 1600-2400. That's a pretty big difference lol.

Also, while looking stuff up, I kept running across converters that say 98 and up...?
I have a 95 trans that I'm swapping the 05 converter into. That's ok right?
The both look the same, and the 95 converter slipped into the 05 trans and seated good. But I'd just like to verify.

95 and down in some is uni bell to trans body and around 96ish they started with bolt on bell housings . also LS stuff is different .

and maybe greg might be able to tell you the code info ? @Greg Ducato . or even @ZooMad75 as he works at a gm shop .

By bolt on you mean just the trans body/bellhousing right? If so that's not entirely accurate.
Both mine are near identical. Only difference is the newer one has the return line from the cooler in a different place, and it has a Top center bolt to the engine.
Here's the new one, and the old ones on the cart.

some NOT all . i know 4l60 stuff was around then for the newer cases . not sure exactly on 4l80 . but yes i know of the split location cooler line ports old/new style .

They appear to be the same.

I did find sort of a list and description. But it doesn't include mine

This seems like something that would be covered by the old Hollanders interchange manuals, whatever wrecking yards use now might also list them? How about local GM parts counter?

Sorry not much help beyond that, if I knew where the digitized parts manuals are for that vintage of vehicle, they almost certainly would have to list the converters based on the various codes.

All I got out of my other converter (670) was that they actually used them behind gas 454s. Mines from behind a diesel.. so I know it's a low stall. I'll post that link I found and see if anyone else can open it.
I think my adobe isn't working.

Supposedly that's got stock part numbers and stall speeds in it. It does nothing if I try it.

This link work for you? Click the one with the blue torque converters

I found "9330" listed in that catalog for the 4L80E, I assume that's why the small number series on your converter tag ends in "9"? (Also 2421 so who knows?)

That 2421 shows up as 3 possible different converters, both low and high stall lol.
Guess I run it and just see how it goes. :dunno:

That list doesn't have either one of my converters now that I look at it more lol.

I know that some of the hd trucks had heat issues with the trans due to the stall speed being higher than cruising rpm.
Read it on here in fact.
There's a converter that replaces it and has a slightly lower stall.
I was just curious if I have that higher one or not.

I should have just tried in the first place, googling 24219330 indicates that's the original part number. There are a few descriptions/application's that pop up dong so.

I never even thought of that :doah:

It still has conflicting descriptions lol. Using that to compare the 2 converters I have, I almost want to run the one from behind the diesel.

It's still got a 1600-1800 stall from what I found.

The same part number shows 2 totally different things here

So basically they show the same part number with different stall speeds. You know GM didn't do that. :surepal: irritating!

Kinda what I was thinking.

How about this?

Apparently the part number has been superseded...perhaps the new number will bring more info? Acdelco.com nor rockauto list the '330 part number
