Torque convertor question

Took my old TH350 out because every seal is bad in it. While taking the TC off and putting it on to the new TH350 felt a rattle in the TC. Well more like an assembly moving around. I have a feeling its not supposed to do that. It is a B&M 2400 stall. Wondering if this is the reason my old tranny never went into third gear.

That your feeling is the turbine moving around while its pretty mush submerged in ATF.

Not the reason for no 3rd gear.
