Need to buy torque wrenches for mainly suspension and drive line use, but also general auto and machinery repair.
They will be for sporadic and occasional use on projects my 12 yr old son and I plan on working on and learning together.

Like to buy my tools locally if possible, and NAPA is the only auto parts tool store in town.
They usually are able to shoot me better prices than those listed on-line.

Will these two following torque wrenches serve most of our needs?

3/8" Dr. Micrometer Tear Drop 10-100 ft/lbs

1/2" Dr. Micrometer Tear Drop 25-250 ft/lbs

Thanks Guys

Those links only take you to NAPA's website and not to a specific page. Yes those wrenches will serve your needs as far as the ft/lbs are concerned, I have no idea on the quality of them though.

When I click on the links in my previous post, it takes me to the specific page for the wrench. I'm guessing that is because I've already viewed those pages on my computer, and the cookies are already there. Don't know how to fix it though so you all can view the pages.

I'll try the links again here to see if it works now.

Links still no worky. Are the wrenches clicker style? A clicker is the best wrench other than a dial type which can be harder to use for most applications.

I'd almost say get a inch pound torque wrench that does 0 to somewhere around 25ft/lbs and then get the big guy there for everything beyond that.

Never used a NAPA torque wrench but I've liked the other NAPA hand tools I've purchased. Good warranties and you can always find a NAPA.

I have a Craftsman inch pound wrench my dad gave me, an OLD Proto 1/2" drive 50-150ft/lbs wrench I inherited from my Grandpa, and a Husky 1/2" drive 50-250ft/lbs wrench I got from Home Depot.
Love the Craftsman and the Proto. The Husky I wish I had known that NAPA sold torque wrenches. Only good things about it are it cost me around $70 and they come with a life time warranty because two broke on me.

I only have split beam non-reversing torque wrenches. if you have kids around or are lazy like me, I suggest the same. brand don't really matter. I've got snapon, but the company picked up most of it.

Come on dude, an INCH lb. torque wrench WILL NEVER read in FOOT lbs. :haha:

Well, you get what I mean. Mine does somewhere up around 250in/lbs which is just shy of 21ft/lbs.

I have an inch lb torque wrench that I can borrow if needed, so I have that covered.

Talked with the parts guy at my local NAPA, who has 20+ years mechanic experience before becoming a parts man. He said they have sold a few of those particular torque wrenches and the similar models that they replaced, and the owners are happy with them. Called a couple of the guys who bought them, and they said they were well satisfied.

I went ahead and ordered both the #4215 3/8" 10-100 ft/lb Micrometer Tear Drop, and #4420 1/2" 25-250 ft/lb version. Were priced a few bucks less than the on-line prices. If I do have problems, I can walk in to the store and lay the wrench on the counter and talk to someone I know.

I've had my Napa torque wrench for years without an issues. Then again I don't use it professionally and I work at a place 99% of the time where I can have mine sent out with the company stuff to have the calibration checked from time to time.

I love my Snap-on torque wrenches, all 6 of them. I have a wrench to cover anything from 1 INCH lb up to 600 FOOT lbs. :D

ya, my 600lb'er is not split beam either. and the shop supplys the 1000lb'er and 4:1, and the hydraulic torque wrenches.

Picked up the torque wrenches today.

Won't have time to use them until the end of next week though.:(
