Tossing the a/c?

Im gonna s-can my a/c and was wondering if anyone sells a cover to put where the Evap coil is?

Do you plan on having heat? Because if you remove the entire box you loose your AC and heat.

No i want to keep the heat. So i will have to find something that can fit the blower in it.

I have seen someone take the box from a factory heat only truck and put it in place of the heat/ac unit. It IS NOT a direct bolt on though. He used the entire setup inside and out, you have to modify the existing hole in the firewall and block off what is not covered by the new box. It was a real pain in the ass, but was very inexpensive.

I removed the compressor and condensor allready i just want to get rid of the evap coil now.Guess i can fab up something out of sheet metal if i have to.

I just got a stock heat unit and it bolted right in. Just had to put a plate on the hole that was left on the firewall. This was on a 78 though. Dont know if the newer ones are different

I miss the A/C my K30 came with. Didnt want it when I was living in CO. Didnt need it when I was stationed in WA. Now i'm 50 miles from death valley! Wish I had just taken the belt off of my compressor.

I used to make one that I was going to try & market but it didn't have enough demand so I only produced a few for a few friends. I cut the blower motor off the evap box and fabbed a new sheetmetal tunnel & box that directed air into the stock opening.

It shouldn't be to hard to fab something up if you have some skill with sheetmetal & a few tools.

I have lived in South Carolina my whole life and im fine with the heat. Besides it not my DD. Im just tired of lookn at it.

Some call it ghetto, I called it FREE! I would have liked to have cut the housing down some more, but I didn't want to restrict the airflow too much. Now that it's been in there for about 8 months, it almost looks like it belongs there.

Forgive the can, it's just for reference on how much I cut off the box..

that works, i took a saw to an old truck about to go to the scrapers, and cut that whole section of the fire wall out, also took the heater core, thefan box and the interior bos, and controls.

i lined up the fan cut outs and marked what needed to be removed then sealed and screwed the fire wall in place, then just bolted up the heat only bax boxes.

cant even tell.
