I started out with a 3/8in electric ratchet for Christmas from the wife. I can't possibly see myself wrenching without it now. Ive saved myself from so many frustrating short wrench swings, cramped hands, and the like in terrible places. My roommate loves the thing too. Its out of my box every time I go out in the garage :doah:

So for a while Ive been waiting for them to release their new brushless models to pick up a drill and impact driver. After 3 months of failed delivery dates and back orders out the ass, plus the release of ridiculous introductory prices ($180 just for the drill) I decided to jump and just buy the standard brushed stuff. Kinda got to the point where all my Makita batteries were getting tired anyway and I needed a drill on hand for fabbing and a hex impact driver on hand for home projects involving screws.

I worked a short side job on sunday and made some extra dough so I splurged and went out and picked up a drill/driver combo with a free "bonus" vibrating multitool/sander for $160.

I really like the size and the power is great for its size. Got loads of stuff on my wanted list for the system :waytogo: Electric caulk gun, borescope, jig saw, 90* drill. Excited to have an assload of batteries too. Im up to 4 batteries and 2 chargers.

What would you use the vibrating cutting thing for? I can get a great deal on them in a kit, but can't really think of an application where I'd use it.

I have the 1/4" hex impact and the jacket and love them both. Im not sure about the ratchet because it only does 30 ft lbs. Wish it was an impacting ratchet.

oh yeah.
i started with the hex driver, they make the adapters to pop in to go with either 1/4,3/8, or 1/2" sockets so its my go to tool for pick n pull runs. the newest one i got is the sawzall. ****ing nifty. i use it more around the house than any of my other previous cutting doohickies. plus its easy to use one handed and in tight spaces. i'm up to 3 batteries & 2 chargers, but definitly plan on getting a few more tools including the ratchet.

How expensive are the batteries to buy individually?

I think if I remember correctly a twin pack of short batteries (like pictured) are $60. I think the extended double life ones are $80ish.

Once you own a ratchet you'll love it. Dont think of the torque limitation. It works as a normal ratchet to break things loose then you can run the fastener all the way out in 2 seconds. No sore fingers starting bolts in ****ty places, no swinging the wrench 3* and taking forever to pull something out. Its really sweet.

I'm surprised you can find anything in that garage with the way Ryan works in there :doah:. It's always a disaster :haha:.

I have the M18 impact and drill at work. I use them like crazy, super handy.

I have that wrench too and I agree about using it like a regular wrench to break things free then zip it out. It amazes me how faster you can get things done.

The one thing I've been curious about is how much torque it can handle being used like a regular ratchet.

I also have the M18 cordless 1/2" impact and I love that as well.

I was just looking at the Milwaukee stuff for a 1/4" hex impact and pretty certain i'm going to settle on this kit. http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2453-22 The local Milwaukee dealer ordered in 3 kits that will be here on wednesday then i'll put one in my hand and see how I like it. This m12 Fuel is supposed to last like 2x longer per charge over the standard m12 stuff.

Fuel is definitely the future, I just got sick of waiting for failed promised dates. First it was holiday season, then it was beginning of the year, then it was early winter 2013, then it was winter 2013, and now spring is here and the first ones arent landing on the shelves until end of march beginning of april and most of them are pre-ordered already...

At Home Depot, the singles are like $40. But if you play your cards right, I bought 2 different M12 kits when they had a promotion for a free battery with them, so now I have 6 batteries, and never a problem!

+1 on all this. I have the drill and impact kit, which basically replaced the m12 1/4 collet driver (even though the idea was to supplement it) And i use that impact more than any other power tool. plus it will drive three inch deck screws all day long. Simply amazing!! Also Idk what I would have done while assembling my double beadlocks if it weren't for my m18 1/2 impact. That thing is more of a beast than any 1/2 air impact I've ever used.

Love Milewaukee- can't wait to see how well this brushless stuff works!

Used mine a lot on laminate flooring. Cutting corners, plunge cutting, peeling up linoleum and grout as well. They make tons of blade styles for them. Sanding heads as well.
