touchy one here, guys!

From what I understand any business that doesn't have it posted you are allowed to carry in (except the bars, banks, gov't). but if they ask you to take it off or leave you must. I have also been told you can carry in Liquer stores but not any place that serves alcohol to consume.

You are also not allowed to carry at city parks unless you have a CCW.

It is always cool to watch someone freak out who isn't from AZ and they see there first person walking down the street with a gun on. They think every cop in the city should be there any second to haul this law breaker to jail. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif Then you tell them it is ok and they don't know what to say.

I love AZ for the fact that we are more free then most states.

That's the law in TX. In fact, there is a specific sign that businesses must use. It's got a lot of legal mumbojumob in it. So stores can't put up a sign just saying "No guns on premise" or something. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I live in one of the five states that does not allow CCP's. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I carry a huge poster of Rosie O'Donnell naked. If anyone gets too close to the rig, I'll unfurl it. Ooooooh the humanity.......... /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Harley,
So glad to see you set the record straight as far as AZ is concerned ... and to mention that EVERY state has different laws regarding conceal carry. Know the laws in your state before carrying a firearm!! Kentucky has, IMO, one of the very best conceal carry laws in the country, which I have taken full advantage of. It is also perfectly legal to walk down the street here (ANY street) with a desert eagle (or whatever) strapped to your belt (must be a hefty belt) or carrying an 870 (or Win 97 for that matter). That is, of course, you are legally allowed to do so in the first place, meaning that you have no felony record, or have not been an alcohol or drug abuser, or have not been determined to be mentally incompetent. You can’t even legally buy a firearm with those things hanging over your head! The police will still stop you and probably charge you with disorderly conduct, but in a large city, carrying a shotgun or AR-15 on a busy street IS somewhat disorderly, even though one is not acting disorderly. I do not agree with the provision that states that one must surrender their firearms if a domestic restraining order has been taken out against you, but that's the law, so one should make sure that if you own firearms, don't get so PO'd at your spouse that you'll do something so stupid as to haul off and smack them ... i.e. ... domestic abuse.

As far as the original question as posted – YES – I whole heartily carry, concealed or otherwise, when I’m in the woods – 9mm or .357 mag. S&W on my belt and the “black rifle” – AR-15, with a “little” .40 cal KelTec as a backup - usually somewhere close by – except when legally restricted during certain hunting seasons. Then it’s a .30-06 or 12 ga. shotgun. Since I have a valid CCDW permit, I carry most other times as well. If you worked in parts of town where I have in the past – you would too. Of course, sometimes it doesn’t really matter what part of town you’re in if some psycho druggie wants to do you harm.

Check out the book by Scott Kappas (attorney) regarding reciprocal firearms laws. Here’s another good site: http://www.packing.org/state/

Above all - be carefull out there!

Mike
