My 73 Blazer is completley apart no suprise there.:haha:The stuff I got for it were essentially free but in pieces.

I want it mostly off road but some what streetable so I can cruise around in it.

I don't know where to start I was thinking axles so I can at least get the frame on some kind of rubber.

Anyways enough rambling on...
Here is what's on my to buy list

DANA 60 FRONT!!! $2536.00 without locker Know any where to buy besides Boyce Equipment?
Frame Brace
6" Tuff Country Lift
4.56 Thick Gears - For 14 Bolt FF
Detroit Locker - For 14 Bolt

Im on a $2000 Budget

I really don't want to put any money into the Dana 44 I have even though I need too to get it rolling, unless I find a Dana 60 reasonably priced.

Should I go with anything else say a shackle flip or zero rates? I would like to be able to do some nice flexing when its needed without doing the 56 front spring setup.

Help me I cant make up my mind its driving me crazy!

Watch Craigslist for a D60. There are two of them on my local one. I've seen them listed for as low as $350 up to $1000.

what are your plans with the thing? tire size, motor, trails terrain? I cant see stressing your self or your build early on if you dont really need a dana 60.

Another option if you are against sinking too much in the 44, pick up a 4.10 gears front form a 3/4 truck or burb. If the gearing will work for you then you get the axle for less than the cost of regearing the one you have and less hassel.

Well my plans for the thing are mostly going to be for the rocks, I want to go to Moab. Occasional trails but no mud bogging if possible. Been talking too much and not getting anything done.

I would like to fit 39.5's 40's, the motor is a 500 Caddy\205\SM465\14BFF\Dana 44

Thanks for the advice must have been picking my brain too hard didn't even think about picking up another axle.

I just want it done right and not be dissapointed when I have a failure that could have been prevented this early in the build stage. Ive been looking at many things and there is just so many options a little overwheling. I want to get a feel for everyones experiences to see what works best for them and why, that way I can figure out what is a necesity and what can be added on later.

Ive been looking there but not having any luck on craigslist =o\

If you can find matching 3/4 tons, do that. The rear end won't need to be swapped out later when you find your 60.

The 14b if you're truly on a budget and this is mostly a toy, just weld the spiders.

Leave the 44 open, a posi/locker and your set-up especially on 40's could potentially pop shafts.

A shackle flip, and the 52" conversion would be a reasonably priced lift conversion.

Look around for a former military CUCV pickup. The pickups are 1 tons and have 4.56's in both axles and a Detroit in the rear. The 1028 series trucks are the same but the front should have a limited slip in it.

Last I knew 84CUCV was selling a whole M1008 CUCV for under $2000 in NJ.

just look for a 1-ton truck for sale off someone that doesn't know what they have for cheap. hopefully it'll have 4:10 or 4:56's . weld the 14bff, move the perches and swap them in. buy used stuff where you can.
