It`s about that time, need to order one, but haven`t a clue what to get. B&M, TCI? Stall?

I`ll be running a carbed 350, headers, cam, basically want the motor to be built for idlet to about 4K RPM.

Suggestions?

stock hd convertor from the dealership is what im running. brazed fins and torrington needle bearings are the things that make them hd. Id never put a stall in a heavy truck or vehicle, stalls create too much heat.

I got mine which is 200rpm higher stall than stock at Monstertransmissions.com. They had a good price and free shipping too. It is going in a 91 burb with a 383 stroker, cam, manifold, headers, 454 throttle body.

What that run ya?

150ish, prob. closer to 200 w/ no emp. discount.

I would get one from B&M or Hughes performance, not TCI. Guy that built my trans said dont get one from tci cause he's blown up like 10 of em and doesn't buy them anymore

Not a tci promoter here as well, had one of there conv. balloon on me and it took out my crank thrust bearings with it. Tci was of no help on a 6 month old new tranny, told me to pound sand. I definately never buy from them.

With that low rpm range in mind, stick with a stock stall speed. The converter needs to match the cam. I don't think you need anything special here. Just decide what you want to pay for.

I once got a Corvette converter (~2000rpm) and it sucked. When it blew up I got a stock stall remanufactured HD unit and it has worked great for years.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the HD low stall converter from monster transmission, with a stall of 1650, which is only 200RPM over stock.
