I can take pics of them mounted on a frame and the other set bare on the floor. But it will have to wait til tomorrow unless someone else beats me to it.

the 73-80 hooks are getting a TON of money on ebay. I have seen them sell for $100-$200 a pair when they are all cleaned up and painted. I was looking to put them on my 78 stepside, but price was outta control and no local j/y's had em. If I had'em I'd sell'em!

really?
i missed a set a year ago on ebay for $1 and $10 shipping.. hah...

anyway.. my truck came with them.. if they are fetching that much hell ill clean mine up and sell them!!!!!

this is when my truck wasnt primered, in my garage on 12" leafs!!!!!

Hi-jack on:

I'd like to see more pics and info on your rig. Those 12" springs look different than the Superlifts I have.

Hi-jack off:

The J-shaped hooks, I have never seen them sell over $100. I've bought both of my sets from members here for around $40-ish, give or take $10. Just can't remember for sure.
All you have to do is post up in the "Wanted" forum and someone will reply. Or just wait til someone is selling a set in the "For Sale" forum. This is how I found mine.

Oh, I remember now. Get a MEMBERSHIP. That's what was missing.

On a serious note, post em up on evilbay or use them. Unless you are knee deep in mud, they will be OK.

There's enough people that want stuff that you should get your money back if you throw them up on ebay.

hijack back on...
my truck with 12" leafs and 3" bl... was getting rockwells and 53's back in 1997 but NJ changed the lift laws and I got screwed... truck sat since 1997 till 2004... I said screw it and got the truck on the road....
how it sits now is max legal in nj for a chevy.. ford and dodge are allowed 3" more as they say they have lower frames than a chevy...

son at 2 helping me swap the motor out...

You want tow hooks? All scored off ebay for less than 10-15 bucks over a couple of months.....perfect for a big bumper build - or direct bolt to frame....big 12 ton winch hook bought at a flea market for $25.00 - the large tow hooks came of F-700 dump trucks, Bluebird school buses or firetrucks

So what were the years that "the good" J-tow hools came off of factory?
You mean "correct", not "good".

73-80 use the "J" hooks.

'81-'87 trucks and up to '91 V-series use the "S" hooks.

Both are good but IMO, the "J" hooks are beefier than the "S" hooks due to the thickness and only one bend.

well they do kinda fit:rolleyes: . the bolt holes almost line up but the hook is almost touching the leaf spring

As I quoted above near the top, those hooks were designed by the engineers to bend when the load exceeded their specs. This way no damages occur to the truck like what was said above with the older hooks shearing bolts and tearing bumpers up.

so they were designed to bend:confused: .

thats kinda weird. then agian these showed up on a IFS truck that was built for comfort and not as a truck.
