Tow question

OK, almost forgot about this, the last time I towed (98 3/4 ton Burb 454) my check engine light came on but I noticed nothing, everything reading normal etc. and it went out about 50 miles after I stoped towing and hasn't been on since, I wonder what it was?

Prolly a load on a weak sensor that isn't dead yet but will be needing replacement soon. I had this happen to a buddies 96 silverado truck. 3 months later 2 sensors were dead. So i'd just keep a watch on it and check for codes every once in a while.

You will have a code stored, I'm going to roll the dice and say it was O2 related. I would scan it and see. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

When you tow it puts extra load on the engine of course which requires more fuel. The two sensors that give you the grief there will be the O2 sensor and the knock sensor.

I started to get a Lean code when I was pulling under load and it turned out to be my fuel filter

We have a Chevy work van and sometimes after hauling on a hot day the oil seems to get thin enough to where at idle the oil pressure drops and trips the light. Do you have an oil pressure gauge?
