Looking for front row hooks for my 1978 blazer?
What are you guys using and what would you recommend? I don't need it to be stock hooks
Thanks

I searched and most threads are almost 5-10+ years old.

I won a set at Blazer Bash for my '91. They are beefy for sure. I like the stock hooks, but these are a much better solution for closed-loop winching/recovery. Meaning less chance of a hook coming off.

I would ask where do you plan to get recovered?
Rocks or mud. Sorry, dunno what @TJ1978 is into.
If it’s mud, might want to look into serious bumpers and tying back into the frame. Never seen the Engineered hooks but if they are thick and backed with a beefy plate on the other side, should do fine for stuff over than mud. :D

Just bringing it up cause tow point strength seems to be underestimated when mud is involved. Yanky vs winching too. I’ve destroyed a few bumpers in my mud playing time, luckily the owners understood it wasn’t my fault :D

Doubt much if any mud, I'm in Arizona. But your point is taken.

I really honed in on these at Blazer Bash for my C10. I get a little nervous driving it in the winter knowing I don't have good anchor points on the front if I slide into a ditch and need tugged out.

i really like those engineered vintage brackets- never seen them before- if i hadnt already redone the front end i would be ordering them right now!

anybody else cut through the front face of the bumper and pass a bracket thru to the frame??
i wanted everything high and tight- flip the shackles up and they are out of the angled plane/ ramp zone...
i found mcmaster carr had better deals on shackles than most places. i went with smaller 5/8 shackles, but they have 5ton WLL and were under 20 bucks a piece a few years ago... no point in paying more for a big 3/4 shackle to hang out there with a 7500lb limit ??

Try and find some cucv m1008 or m1009 shackle brackets. They pass thru the bumper. IMG_20141120_130114198_HDR__87549.1455153266.jpg
