Looking at buying a used one with a painless harness and programmable painless computer that comes with a laptop. I can find the harness on line but no painless computer. The guy selling this stuff says that he spent 3300 on the engine rebuild and 2200 for the painless stuff but I'm having trouble finding any info. on line about this stuff. Is there such a thing? He is suppose to send me some info on the engine build and the painless stuff via email some time today. Also supposedly has a lomax t-case to:D Still trying to confirm that to.
Thanks for any help.

Edit, I think I found it

I've been out of the TPI camaro's for a couple years now, I actually have a 383 I started to build for mine in my basement. If done right, a 383 and a TPI setup should be a torque monster, TPI is only good to around 4500 rpms, which is typically good for trucks like ours, not so good for guys drag racing camaro's and firebirds, which is why most guys don't go that route. I've never heard of painless making a computer for these setups, doesn't mean they don't exist, Most guys were just running stock ECM's and burning their own chips. The "tuned" in tuned port injection refers to the runners going to the intake, they make a nice performing, good street manners, good fuel economy, torquey motor, but, many have complained that they aren't capable of getting the most hp an torque out of a 383. Usually require upgrades to injectors as well. I absolutely loved my little 305 TPI camaro, it was a lot of fun and would actually haul @ss down the road and get 23 mpg on the highway! Thirdgen.org has a lot of info and builds on these setups, well worth checking it out. I've been toying with idea of doing a TPI swap into my blazer someday, a stock functioning TPI system wiring harness, ECM, stock injectors, intake and intake manifold complete with all sensors usually runs around $300 on CL for reference. They also usually take a considerable amount of tuning to get the most out of them, but there are lots of guys who have shared their files with others on Thirdgen. I would really need to know all the specs of that motor etc. Before spending too much money on it, it could ge expensive to get it running right.

Dang, I just saw your link you added, looks pretty interesting, that's new to me. Pretty pricey though, I'd be curious to read some reviews on it.

Yeah this is interesting and it's in a running truck but has a blown tranny. Supposedly rebuilt to stock. Comes with everything needed to make it plug and play in my buggy for 3200.00 with a 205 lomax t-case and he pulls it. Has a 115 amp alternator and serp setup.

That's a lot of money for a used motor. It sounds like it's got some really cool stuff on it, however, that thing was built to be used and abused... Is it cool? Heck yeah!!! But he better come up with receipts and detailed specs before I'd even consider it. What does he mean by rebuilt to stock? There isn't a stock thing about hardly any of it, which could be a problem down the road if you have trouble with it beyond your abilities mechanically. Could it be a great deal? Maybe, maybe not. Be careful. I honestly think he's going to have a hard time selling this thing, even if he parts the motor out, I think it's still high. So I wouldn't be afraid to negotiate him down a bit.

SO 3200 with the lomax 205?
If so, that used lomax is worth at least $1000 so now the engine is about $2200.
Maybe not so bad.
Do you really want to switch from your diesel?

Yes with the Lomax, but not so sure it's gonna be as simple as switching inputs from my 205 to run the th400.
The diesel is around 200 lbs heavier and I'm guessing around 200 less ponies to so yeah I will eventually be ditching the 6.2 just not sure if this will be the one or not. The guy still has not sent me any specs. yet.

..putting an old Accel Super Ram plenum will let that 383 breathe like it is meant to...
