So - I want to put a TPI in my '72. I currently have the feed line as well as a vent line in my frame.

Is there any reason I can't use the vent line for the TPI return line?

(Obviously have to put fuel injection compliant rubber hose everywhere - or is that required on return?)

You should run a seperate return line since the tank needs a vent to prevent the tank from imploding.

Also you just need to make sure that any rubber hose in the feed line is high pressure fuel hose, the return can use standard hose since it's not under pressure.

Scott - thanks - that is a good reason! LOL

But - does it have to vent clear up in the engine bay?

The vent either goes to the fuel pump on a carbed engine or a charcoal cannister. Where does yours currently go? If it goes to the charcoal cannister i would leave it hooked there.

Are you going to run a frame mounted fuel pump or an intank pump? If you're going to use the stock 72 blazer tank i would recommend pulling the sender out and then drilling a hole in the top of the sender and then running a piece of steel brake line down through the hole to the bottom of the tank and position it so that it doesn't interfere with the float but aims at the pick-up sock this way when the fuel returns it is aimed directly at the pick-up sock and this will help prevent the engine from dying when the fuel level is low and you go around corners. I did this trick when i installed a TPI system on my old 76 blazer and it worked perfectly. All you need to do is braze the steel line to the sender and you're all good. Obviously you would want to make a 90 degree bend in the line so that it isn't pointing at the floor where it comes out of the sender.

most vent lines are 1/4 "

and most returns for efi stuff are 5/16 "

and most feeds for efi stuff are 3/8 "

so keep this in mind when plumbing your lines.

Pretty sure it goes to charcoal canister - can't remember where it was though - must be up front - but there are (3) lines bolted to the body on the rear to route venting fuel all over in the back - I'm thinking those must be for incoming fuel into tank?

Scott-

Also, for the pump - I have a NWF aftermarket 26 gallon tank

How would I go about finding in-tank fuel pump for this? Or are they universal?

Sorry for the dumb questions - fuel injection is a new area for me!

The factory vent line has a restriction at the sending unit so it cant be used as a return line for TPI.
Is your new tank baffled?
