I am helping a friend do a TPI swap into a 78 Corvette. We have everything needed except a harness and a couple sensors that need to be replaced. The sensors are no problem since they are easy to get, but I have a question on the harness. The one that came with the intake was pretty chopped up and I think it would be better to just get another one. Wondering for those of you who have done TPI swaps, did you use a used factory harness or buy an aftermarket harness? I have looked at what Painless offers for their TPI swap harness, but $400 seems pretty high. So what do ya'll recomend? Are there other TPI harness makers, ebay sellers etc, that sell a new harness for a better price?

Not sure anyone else makes one I bought a painlees, still have it in the box after three years but thats another story, the factory one would work fine if you don't mind chasing wires, another one from another car or something would work too.

I know the 85 ecm is supposed to be something to stay away from, but can the harness be used? The TPI intake I have is from an 87.

I wouldn't even consider spending/wasting my time with a stock harness after I compared it to my painless harness. It is way more hassle then its worth IMO to mess with a stock harness in unknown condition with 20 year old plugs and sockets. Spend the $300 on a painless and it is plug and play with a brand new harness with brand new connectors, a good manual, and good tech support should you need it.

If you want to spend lots of money call street & performance and buy a harness. These are even more expensive. People bad mouth the Painless harness but I honestly can't figure out why. Mine was awesome.
