ORD sells a weld on kit to mount a traction bar. I would NOT weld the bar to the axle. You can use these poly bushings instead of heim joints.
Here's the information from ORD's site:
This kit is the axle end of a single ladder style traction bar ready for a do it yourself fabricator. The plates are laser cut 1/4" with 9/16" holes on 8" centers. The bushing assemblies are our BA175 and BA175HD (heavy wall HD outer tube for the bottom mount). The axle radius is 3 3/8" for the GM 14FF rear axle and can be easily modified for larger tubes. A 3" tube version is also available for most 1/2T axles. These mounting plates are also ideal for a link suspension.
#U8050 - pair of plates only for 3" radius axle tube - $25.00
#U8051 - pair of plates only for 3.375" radius axle tube - $25.00
#U8052 - Traction bar axle mount kit, includes plates and bushing assemblies for 3" tube: $46.00
#U8052 - Traction bar axle mount kit, includes plates and bushing assemblies for 3.375" tube: $46.00
Me thinks its time for ORD to update their front page, I didn't know they had a page with those bushings or those brackets made up. Good to know, need to order some bushings for my upper shackle bushing in my front.
