Traction Bars?

Are any of you guys running traction bars with a small lift? (4") PO put a 4 inch lift that lifts the rear with a block and I'm having a tough time deciding if I should fab some traction bars while my truck is down. I absolutely hate how my truck is lifted with that block and the PO also put a 3 inch body lift on that I'm contemplating taking off and replacing the total of 7" or 8" total lift with just suspension. Also having a hard time deciding if I want to do a shackle flip but I tow with my truck so I'm not sure how it would tow with the flip.

Shackle flip is a good option it shouldn't affect towing, definitely lose the blocks I took 3" blocks out of my K5 and I'm running a custom single Traction bar with an Ord cross member, it's very stable and plants the truck well under acceleration.
I also have 6" of lift on my 3+3 dually and I plan on leaving it that way after the 3" body lift is gone to see how it tows. (I don't think it'll be too bad but I wouldn't tow with any more then that.

If you can search way back on CK5 there is discussion of why a shackle flip is "bad" for towing, but if you think about it, lift blocks are worse than a shackle flip. Truth is, short wheelbase, lifts and soft springs are all bad for towing. Most of what makes the shackle flip "bad" is that 1) you don't leave the vehicle at stock height and 2) you use a soft stock rear spring instead of a stiffer higher arch lift spring. In addition to handling the tongue weight better and having less body roll, the stiffer spring resists wrap better.

Compared to lift blocks, a shackle flip puts the axle in a little different location, so it makes sense to get the rest of the suspension the way you want it, then do an anti-wrap bar.

What is your vehicle? What will you tow?

True any lift will negative affect towing. A shackle flip is going to move your axle forward only about a half inch which is not to drastic. Stock springs in that Form will have the same payload physically just an issue of high center so it's on the driver to reduce weight. Agreed, axle blocks are terrible for towing

I always get a kick out of the compression shackle (flip) and towing thing. Some of the flip, like added height and softer compression, is not so good for towing but not the flip itself. Take a Toyota Tundra. It has a 10,200 pound towing capacity and has compression shackles. There are others also but the Toyota is the one that always comes to mind for me.
