anyone ever try this for offroad performance? I bet it greatly expedites wear but I bet it would also rule in the rocks! IDK...

Bet it helps a shit Ton on ice. I'd assume it's the same concept as siping. Lots of little edges grab great but also break off easier.
 
why there doing it on one of the best snow/ice tires with TONS of siping is beyond my understanding .

but yes the more you split up a rubber block the more it grips . = acts as more fingers of grip .
