Thinking about running john deere hygard low viscosity in my th400. It is suppose to loosen up the convertor a little and hold up to heat better

Anyone running it?

I run it in my puller. I've been told it "holds" better. I pulled the tranny apart after a few seasons and everything looked great. I'm not sure how it would be in a daily driver or tow rig though. Mine sees minimal street use and short bursts.

I work at a John Deere dealer and am familiar with it. Althought I have never run it in a transmission im sure it will handle heat better than dextron. I dont know if it will have any negative affects on the friction surfaces such as bands, drums, and clutch packs though.

Personally, I would fear something that is different enough in viscosity to feel the difference in the converter. As long as it can't damage the frictions, it's easy enough to change back, I guess. What is the intended application for the fluid?

I have a friend that did that in his '01 k2500 with the 4l80 when it started slipping, got him about 3 more months before it died completely.
