Curious to see if anyone would want to do a straight acrosstrade for my 4.10 gears for your 3.73 gears. They are for d44 and 14 bolt.

Baba way wrong.

They are for a full floater.

It's the gears that are currently in my 78.

I wondered about that as well, but I wasn't sure if you were talking about the '78 gears or something else you had lying around. :dunno:

For what it's worth, I recently snagged outers from a 3.73 D44 (1978, even) for my suburban, and I don't currently have any plans to use the gears. 3.73 14bff gears are cheap and plentiful at the yards I've been visiting. It wouldn't be too hard for you to get a set of 3.73 gears put together, if that's what you want. But I have no desire for the 4.10 gears in return. With my tire size/driving habits, my diesel is unhappy enough with the 3.73 gears! :doah:

(I do wish that full-float axles had been offered in higher gear ratios. My 3.08 pickup is more fun to drive than the Suburban, gearing-wise. :))

I'm still willing to send you my 3.73 D44 gears...

As long as you don't send me the 4.10 gears in return. I don't think I could use them, unless I were to put that axle back together with the 6-lug outers and try to sell it. :doah:

$50 is less than half of a new set of gears. Not a bad price.

I realize that. But I also don't know what the condition of these gears is. I've never seen them, I've never run them, and I don't want to represent them as being equal to a new set. I'm also expecting (though I forgot to mention it) that Mitch would pay shipping, which will add a few dollars to the final price. Unless you wind up making that parts run out here...

On the bright side, I got my axle pair from a '78 K20 (your exact configuration, no?), and the 14bff gear set looked great (it went into my Blazer, as I didn't like the 4.10 gearing it came with either, especially with the 6.2).

No it sounds great to me! I'm trying to stick with the swap idea tho fir a little bit. I like the idea of a trade and I would get an easy matchingset.

50 bucks is about the going rate for just about any used gear unless its uncommen

Ok, lemme know if you decide you want it. The D44 is down in Iowa, so I need to schedule some time down there to take the pumpkin apart. I should be visiting several times this year.

If you wait long enough I may be parting out my extra 3.73 14BFF, too. :haha:

(If I don't come up with another use for it)

Ok thanks man! Im in no big hurry and still hoping to find a set local just to make things easy. But we'll be in touch!

Ok so I got a new rear end for the truck that has 3.73s in it. So all I need is the front gears. When do you think you would be able to get them in a box and shipped this way? I'm in no hurry at all. Just curious.
