HAHAHA, young un'. That must be a really new thing, because I turn 23 next month and even 6 years ago no one checked ID... heck, I was the "adult" most of the time I went with my friends.

So I took the truck out to help a fellow Jeeper get some parts for his new Jeep. Well his garage is in a tight downtown type alley off a very busy street.
I pulled into the alley to unload the stuff only to find that someone had parked a trailer in the alley blocking the exit. So I had to either try to back out onto a super busy street or turn it aroudn in the tight alley.
Well, I tried to turn it around by pulling backwards into a tight yard/driveway. There was a BUSH on one side........that apparently was hiding a much larger and solid object below the sight line of the bed. Damn it!!! it was the nice perfectly straight side too.

Just a quick note. This project is not dead. Just been unable to work on it. Will get back to it soon and get some more pictures up.

At the last trail clean up 4x4 did not work. Everything was spinning but the front end.
I'm feeling a bit better and thought I would tear into it to see if I could fix it quickly (like broken spider gears) so we could use it to help build the Carnage Canyon Challenge Route this weekend.
Here is what I found.
What this truck really needs is a front D60. Anyone have a spare?

4.10 Dually axle open diff 1980. price...I dunno. let's take that to PM.

My brother lives in CO. He might be drive down here for Christmas, maybe could bring the axle back.

i think a diesel in this truck would be great! i know the 454 is more power but being able to say it runs on bio diesel would fit the truck so well!
I've still got both of them, you're welcome to one of them! I don't know how much shipping would cost. They are both in big green metal shipping containers ready to go! They were pulled from military hmmwv's and replaced with 6.5 turbos. They are complete minus the starter and alternator! The injection pump is 24volt but could easily be changed to 12 volt....I also can help locate one for cheap near you if you'd like!

I don't wanna be a wet blanket but 6.2s....uh....well....not so great.
I'd look for a cummins if you want diesel.
4 cyl or 6 cyl, 4 would prolly be better.

I agree a Cummins would be sweet, or even a Duramax swap. I have looked pretty heavily into both. The big problem is $$$$$$. I already have a fair amount of my own money in a truck I plan on draging across trails for the benefit of our sport.
Fortunately some companies have helped with the project quite a bit. I just need to be realistic about some of the costs. I also need to weigh the amount of time and effort I put into building the truck vs. using the truck.
I would really like to see it out being used more than just hiding in my garage waiting for the next step.
I know that on the "scale" of desirable Diesel motors the 6.2L is pretty low. But it may be a decent set up for this truck. Would LOVE to put on the side of the truck "BIO DIESEL" jut to help the positive image out. Keep in mind that I am trying to make an environmental statement with the least environmentally friendly vehicle on Earth.
Being able to state that we "Recycled" the truck is a big key in the whole deal.
Refresh my memory...what is the real potential of a 6.2L? How do they perform on the trail? MPG in a big truck? Altitude? Towing? Cold Starts?
