All but 6 months of my 6 years in the Navy was on the east coast. There were things I liked about it, but I'm not sure I could live east of the Mississippi again.
It was a blast. Sand Mountain is like a four wheeler's dream! The trails are no joke. We only did 6 and 7 rated trails and they were more challenging than I expected. What would be a 6 or 7 at Sand Mountain was more like a 8 or 9 in Moab. Plus you can basically go anywhere you want so you can often make the trails harder or sometimes easier. They just don't want you to run over the vegetation.
Something I figured out after being there, Sand Hollow is the state park with the big reservoir. Sand Mountain is across the highway where all the dunes and trails are. There is a tunnel under the road near where the Trail Hero vendor area and concert venue was set up.
