Anybody know how long the runs are? Trying to plan for food and curious if we need to pack in and pack out.

Always pack out what you pack in. Usually only need lunch, especially for the trails you signed up for. Spike run should plan on at least a dinner snack.

Oh yes of course what I bring will come. I'll be on the golden spike run as a co pilot.

You have to poop in a bag and carry it out to.

Sounds great, can and will do.

Thanks for the heads up, now I got a better idea what to pack.

My basic requirements are:

Food and all snacks for the day for all people in your vehicle, that always includes a good dinner snack as Scott said. Then some type of backup food snacks for just in case.

Minimum of 1 gal. of water per person for the day. Then some emergency water. for backup.

If you are one that needs to take prescription meds at night you may want to have those as well.

It's amazing how much energy you burn when things start going wrong. A little stress, more physical activity and your sweating like a dog and burning calories like crazy. A little snack and some water can really change things in that situation.

Thank you for the advice, sounds like I'm on track for good planning. Hopefully this will help other newbies.

Soooo...... 12 boxes of PopTarts then?

Sounds like PB&J, massive quantities of PB&J sandwiches :D

You have to refrigerate jelly after it opens, or you just steal all the ones from IHOP. :haha:

So far I have peanut butter sammiches, fruit cups, pop tarts, and tons of water.

I should add for the benefit of future readers, I generally figure 6-7hrs for a typical run. Sometimes you'll get a short run and sometimes a long one. For the most part 6-7hrs seems about average.

yeah 6-7 hours, ha

bring a cooler with ice, pack the stuff to make food on the trail.

grill, so you can do burgers and hot dogs.

lots of water

I pack enough munchies and water to spend the night. Never needed it, but needing it and not having it would suck.

We can always gather some firewood and grill up a BB Noob for dinner . Although Ben doesn't have much meat on him...
