I'm trying to get my butt down to BB this year but my blazer is more like light trail ready, nothing too tough yet. I've run hell's revenge (going around some obstacles) and fin's n things, but that's about it. I'm mostly going to meet everyone and check out the more capable rigs.

Are there going to be any others in the light trail category? Just wondering if I'm going to be on my own most of the time or not.

I will be for sure running the easier stuff assuming my truck doesn't fail to make the drive over. This will be our first Moab trip in the crewcab and I won't have as many local runs in as I would like so we want to take it easy this year at the Bash.

thats the category i'll be in next year. really hoping to make BB14, this year isn't happening.

I'll be running the easy to moderate stuff too. My rig has the 1 ton stuff to handle some abuse, but It is my daily driver and I am not interested in any body work either, I already have some to do as it is. It will be my first year also and I just want to meet some of the other guys and have a fun time camping and wheeling in a different area than i'm used to.

Hope to see you there.

I wish we had more people show up for the "easy" runs. Usually we only get 1 or 2 people to run the easier stuff, if anyone at all.

Allot of the time the people who run the easier runs could actually the harder ones.

My first time ever wheeling in my burb and on slickrock I ran Hells with a 4in lift open rears and 35's. Scared the crap out of me on some of the downhills but had a blast.

I was actually surprised at how "easy" hell's revenge is for it being such a well known trail. I went around some of the obstacles because of my lack of protection more than because I didn't think the truck could handle it. I run 1/2 ton gear myself.

Another question. Is there a minimum equipment list around somewhere? I'm sporting just a roll bar these days so I'm not sure if that disqualifies me from even the easy trails with the group.
Other than that I'm sure I can get everything ready in time if I have a check list to go by.

Hope this helps. Its on the Blazer Bash trail description page.

General: mandatory for each trail category: solid tow points front and rear; seat belts for all occupants of the vehicle; fire extinguisher; tow strap; working jack; vehicle in good overall working order, brakes in excellent condition, no leaks; motor must keep running at steep angles. Highly recommended: first aid kit, CB radio

Trails - Easy: stock suspension or mild lift, tires 31-33" or higher
Trails - Difficult: tires 33-35" or higher, one locker, two is better
Trails - Hardcore: tires 36"+, two lockers mandatory, winch

Don't be creeped out by the YouTube videos. You will enjoy Moab. Just go and wing it from there.

I read and watched too much before I went the first time. Could have picked a couple of times from nerves. I had never been in the rocks before. No big deal now.

Oh, I'm not creeped out, I've been there several times on my own. I just want to run with the guys and push myself a touch knowing I'll have a few guys around for backup. Just didn't want to show up on a trail run if you guys were expecting a full cage.

Lots of good people will be there to always lend a hand. I think 90% of the rigs don't have cages or roll bar, ours doesn't.

Most guys don't have bars or cages.
good to hear. you know from the build threads sometimes you get the impression that everyones truck but your own can climb the side of a building and fly in a pinch. :haha:

Of course we know that your truck actually does fly though.

Indeed it does!

I don't have a roll bar. I was big time freaked out the first time I went too. Hells revenge was an easy run. I didn't run a few of the harder parts for no body protection as well. Going in I figured hells revenge was going to be insanely hard lol!

Lots of the downhills that were freaking people out don't bother me at least. I go up and down loose shale covered hills all the time which are considerably steeper and never even thought twice about them. The traction on the "slick" rock is incredible when it is dry.

There's only 1 spot on Hell's I don't really like and it's the same place where we had a roll over a few years ago. It's not too hard to drop a tire off in the wrong place and the truck will just tumble over. The first time we ever ran it, StormTrooper was ahead of us and had to jump on the CB quick and tell me to run a little more passenger. Not a really hard spot, but you do have to be paying attention.

For the most part Hell's is nice because you can see the rubber marks that tell exactly where to go.

The bad downhills on Hell's Revenge (specifically the one mrk5 is talking about) have paint stripes. If you're coming up to a downhill with limited visibility there will be 2 white paint stripes, keep your truck between the stripes and you'll be fine :waytogo:
