Never had a TBI motor before, are there any doohickeys (besides fuses) that you guys carry? Or is it pretty much they work until they don't?

In case i was unclear, I'm talking the injection system specifically.

fuel pump relay, IAC, CTS, spare injector if I have one around.. it's all small stuff, so it's easy to keep in the rig...

At this age of the trucks, the thing I'm concerned with on the trail (or street for that matter) is the distributor. We seem to be in the age of common failures within the distributor (module, pickup coil, etc) and it's harder to replace the pickup than the whole distributor.

Coil itself would be another I'd not mind a spare of.

Of course, the only spare I carry is the semi-serpentine belt. I've been left stranded by the pickup coil, which is why if you haven't replaced the internals of the distributor already, I think it's a good idea to have a complete spare distributor that is known good (or new).

Flux capacitor, never leave home w/out a spare 'cause you never know where to find a bolt of lightning.

Extra fuel pump (intank version). Went wheeling one time and it went out 50 yrds into the trail. Didn't have a spare and also didn't have the hole cut in the back floor to get access to the pump without dropping the tank (if you havn't cut that hole yet, do it). So had to load it back up and head home.

Some of the distributor parts and other misc sensors listed above are always a good idea too, and relatively cheap

Yeah, when I was shopping for mine, i saw a few with the hole in it. Mine doesn't. I need to figure out a cleaner way to do it than the ones I looked at though. lol.

I carry a dist cap, rotor, a few plug wires, ignition control module, fuel pump, couple feet of 3/8 & 5/16 rubber fuel line and hose clamps.

I've been left stranded before from a dead fuel pump and ICM.

I carry everything. Distributor, ECM, injectors, coil, relays, even the wire from the coil to the ICM. That is the one that screwed me over for BB one year.

i have 344,000 Miles and some change on my TBI car. Original pump and injectors (as far as i know). Also, original engine and trans.

X2 on the door/flap above the tank. i haven't done mine yet, but plan to.

Are there dimensions somewhere on where to put the hole in the bed?

I'll take some measurements and pics tomorrow for you. I braved mine up a bit. I also seal it with silicone when I don't need it.

Braced. Not braved. I can send them in a few hours after work. It really is slick. I can change a fuel pump in less than an hour.

So my access panel is a little large. I could've made it a lot smaller. I didn't know how big to cut it when I did. I also used flat strap to brace the sides and middle. The middle piece will slide forward and out when I need access. I put the braces in when I did not have access to a welder. Now that I own my own, I will at some point revisit and redo it.

In case you can't read the tape measure, I cut 12" from each wheel well, 7 1/2" and 23" from the end of my floor. So the panel ended up being 15x26". Like I said, I run a bead of silicone around it to seal out exhaust when not needed. I just barely replaced my pump with a higher flowing pump last week.
Let me know if you need more pics.

I don't have good sided to side measurements, this panel is steel from a hardware store. 12x12 I have them in my burb and blazer,

So that center support is removable? Seems like the one place you need access to the most is blocked.
