I need to get a trailer by the end of the month. looking at getting a new trailer for my new crawler. not sure what my crawlers gonna end up weighing but I'm thinking around 5K with no way atm to find the actual weight. (see my build thread for the particulars, but gerneraly gutted s10 extra cab on a tube frame, 350, 7004, 203/205, D60, 14blt, 42 PBRs on h2 rims) If I'm at 5k then I'm right at the limits of a 7k trailer. If my crawlers 4k then a 7k will be perfect. if I'm over 5k well them I'im screwed with a 7k and need a 10k. 10k is about $500 more dollars and a drive to get. I just dont want to over buy if I don't need to.

here's the trailer. both.exactly the same. one has 7k axles under it the other 10k

You'll never complain about being over trailered. You'll definilty regret being under trailered. I know a lot of three full size rigs end up weighing in the 6k range when done. Obviously yours is different but still.

10k trailer and always more deck length than you think you need .

I had a 10k years ago and wished I had purchased 1 with 3-4 more foot out the end . dam flip up ramps had to be strapped up or removed 1/2 the time with a long bed pickup on it.

also torsion axle sits lower and rides a LOT smother.

and looking at the link provided that's trailer seems a JOKE . . . .

10k but 5 lug axles / hubs and prob 15" tires .

also fenders look beefy to drive over but look under them for extra bracing so they don't fold first time over them .

and a real trailer in this weight class should have a jack rated for more then 3000-3500lbs . wait till you need to hitch/unhitch with buggy on it . . . you will wish you had a big trailer jack .

thats the 7k trailer in the picture/link . shoulda said that my bad. The dealer had to list it that way cause its vin# says its a 10k.. its the 10k frame/deck but someone made an error at the factory and shipped it to the dealer with 7k axles/jack under it.

The 10k looks exactly the same deck wise just with 10k axles/jack..ramps slide underneath. I hear you about the length, I just dont have alot of storage space or backup room in from the street to my side yard. when I would borrow my buddies 20 foot 14k with torsion axles it could be a real adventure getting it into the side driveway esp when cars are parked on the street at my neighbors houses. I also have to be able hop the curb with it loaded. since the awesome city wont let me cut the curb for the side driveway cause I already have one cut curb.

Yup go for the 10k price difference is nominal. Trailer weight is probably also not all that different so not like you will be towing more more weight.

bought a 18 foot 10k from a different place. local just south of me, last place on my list to check. its being built will be done on the 30th. drive over fenders, 4 d-rings, spare tire and mount, leveling jacks in the back. all that and its $200 less than the 10k one I linked. 2 year warranty on rolling parts (which is twice as long as the others). life time on frame. and I don't have to drive 100 miles to get it.

The description says "deckover", but those sure look like fenders to me. Or did I misunderstand what "deckover" means?

I'm amazed fenders can survive being driven over by a fullsize.
